    2020 New Hampshire Primary Thread

Polls are already closing and the first results have Bernie leading, Amy Saladcomb a surprising second place and the Ratfaced Mayo Cheat in third. Presumably Liz Warren would be in 4th place because poor old senile Joe is way down in 5th place. Biden apparently knew he wasn't doing well, and already hopped the Amtrak out of town, headed for South Carolina, where he still seems to think he can do better.

This is only about 3% reporting so stay tuned for more numbers.

    Meanwhile here's the TYT stream....

Andrew Yang has apparently realized the "MATH" just isn't there for him. He just dropped out. Never had much of a chance as a candidate, but some of his ideas deserve some further consideration. Maybe Bernie might give him a cabinet position down the road?

If things aren't looking any better for her before then, most likely. Biden might get enough corporate money to hang around until then also. I still think Mayo Cheat is a flash in the pan, politically speaking. He only did well in New Hampshire because the corporate media treated him like the "winner" in Iowa, when he really wasn't. Hell, Pat Robertson won Iowa in 1988, but it didn't carry him much further. (Thank you, Jesus!)

I actually hope it ends up as a Bernie vs Klobuchar primary at this point, because (unlike Hillary, Pete, or many others who have already dropped out this year) she doesn't make any pretense of being "liberal" or "progressive". When the debate is about the issues, Bernie's gonna win.

    Ooof!

I've only seen him a couple of times on Real Time and looked at his list of policies and they seemed ok. He's also not 10 years past retirement age - I guess the gay thing could still be problematic with some potential voters and I understand the black vote are not too keen.

He’s a Catholic In Action (CIA). He was not regular military. Yup. You would get a Washington Establishment President with him

That's true. For all he plays up his military service, the unit he was in in Afghanistan were basically CIA puppets. Then there's his private sector experience with "The McKinsey Institute", another known CIA front. And his ties to Silicon Valley, including this app that just made a fucking mess out of the Iowa caucus last week. Not to mention his whole political style is to talk a lot but say nothing of substance. He's at worst a CIA plant, hypocritically supported by the wing of the Democratic party that can't stop freaking out about Putin. We already had a Putin type in charge of this country. The CIA ran the fucking Republican party from 1952 up until 2009, for fucks sake. Now they want the Democratic party? Fuck that.

He seems like a niche/identity politics candidate with a minimal amount of experience. Not sure that combination is the way to go in the general, even if ends up firing up the base. Maybe a vp slot.

The CIA took over the Democratic Party with the Clinton’s. Bill was working with the CIA as governor letting them fly their drugs into Mena, Arkansas. We have had a CIA President in office since H.W. Bush. Buttigieg never had a branch or company insignia on his uniform in Afganistan. People who served there are saying he probably was a spook. Anyways they are playing all sorts of games to have a brokered Democrat Convention and the fix will be in again. They don’t want Bernie. They can’t control him.

Well the Democrats went after the CIA in the 70’s for MK Ultra but Miles Copeland said that only scratched the surface. It’s only become more corrupt since then and is a big reason we mess around in the Middle East. They had to find excuses to justify their existence after the Cold War. Not only that, the CIA has been compromised by Israeli intelligence. One big reason Israel gets it’s way. So it’s a mess.

Em, the McKinsey Institute isn't a CIA front, it's worse: How McKinsey Destroyed the Middle Class;Technocratic management, no matter how brilliant, cannot unwind structural inequalities. --The Atlantic

Bernie has no competition at the grass roots level. He owns it. He will be the obvious winner but we will have to see what kind of shenanigans go on at the convention. The pompous ass Bloomberg thinks he can buy it. Booty Fudge looks shady as hell. The others are tanking.

If my brother saw this he'd have a shit fit but if Bernie was to get elected it won't be the end of the world as we know it. His socialist ideas won't become instant laws no matter how adamant he is about that.

If I was a socialist I would move back to where my ancestors came from. Either Norway or Denmark. I always liked the rough and tumble free market system we have in the US. The US is about hustling. But you have to have some regulation or you end up with monopolies, un safe products and environmental damage. The thing is the pendulum always swings to extremes and only stays in the sweet spot a short time so it's a non-stop cycle between too much regulation and free markets becoming monopolies. I remember getting a lecture in the Soviet Union in 1975 about how capitalism becomes crony capitalism then socialism and then communism. They loved to tell us we would become communist at the end of the day and there is some truth to what they were saying. But there are too many people here who came from authoritarian countries and they aren't going to stand for it here. So I don't worry about an authoritarian federal government taking everything over.

All you can do in an election is vote for what you think is the best choice on the menu. I can't stand Michael Bloomberg. If people think Trump is bad put that guy in office. A total elitist authoritarian. I would vote for Bernie over him. Bernie is just a goofy guy who claims to be a socialist but has gotten rich while in office. He's you standard politician. I just think he's more honest at the podium than most of them. But I don't like sociopathic authoritarians like Bloomberg. I just find the politics now quite retarded. It's making Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford look like wonderful statesmen in comparison. I think the last really good president we had was Eisenhower. But we have had way more bad presidents than good presidents and very few great presidents.

No you wouldn't because you don't know anyone there and you don't speak the language.

One of the things that is difficult for Republicans to get is that Denmark and Canada have more entrepreneurship than the USA - look it up.

The reason for that is a safety net allows you to step onto the high wire of starting your own business. Without knowing I had healthcare for my family I wouldn't have set up businesses, I would have taken the government job I was offered.

You talk about hustling and the American dream, the US now has some of the lowest social mobility in the world - look it up.

Finland's millennial prime minister said Nordic countries do a better job of embodying the American dream than the US
    Will Martin Feb 3, 2020, 10:19 AM

Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin attends a news conference of the new Finnish government in Helsinki, Finland December 10, 2019. Lehtikuva/Vesa Moilanen via REUTERS

Sanna Marin, the 34-year-old prime minister of Finland, said her country and other Nordic nations were actually the best equipped to provide citizens with a chance to achieve the American dream.
"I feel that the American dream can be achieved best in the Nordic countries, where every child no matter their background or the background of their families can become anything," she recently told The Washington Post.
Marin's comments seemed like a tacit endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders, one of the frontrunners to secure the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election.
Sanders has long advocated Nordic-style socialism in the US, saying in 2008 that Finland has "one of the best economic and social models in the world."

Sanna Marin, the millennial prime minister of Finland, said her country and other Nordic nations were best equipped to provide their citizens a chance to achieve the American dream.

She told The Washington Post's Ishaan Tharoor at Davos, Switzerland, in January: "I feel that the American dream can be achieved best in the Nordic countries, where every child no matter their background or the background of their families can become anything."

The American dream is, at its most basic level, the idea that everyone should be given the opportunity to reach their life's goals and ambitions.

Finland can provide the American dream because of its public services, Marin said.

"We have a very good education system," she said. "We have a good healthcare and social-welfare system that allows anybody to become anything. This is probably one of the reasons why Finland gets ranked the happiest country in the world."

She warned, however, about forcing such a system on other countries.

"Every country's situation is different," she told The Post. "Every country's political atmosphere is different."

Marin, 34, became the world's youngest prime minister in December when she was chosen to lead her party, the Social Democrats, which has the most seats in the Finnish coalition government.

Marin, who has a working-class background, was the first person in her family to attend university and worked as a sales assistant during her studies.

While she did not mention him by name, Marin's remarks to The Post suggested a tacit endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, one of the frontrunners to secure the Democratic nomination in the 2020 US presidential election.

Sanders has long advocated moving toward so-called Nordic socialism: a system with a strong welfare state, often including free healthcare and highly subsidized higher education, paid for by high levels of taxation, particularly on the wealthy.

Sanders once said at a 2008 meeting in Vermont with the Finnish ambassador to the US that Finland has "one of the best economic and social models in the world."

"We should ask how does it happen that in Finland they have virtually abolished childhood poverty, have free high-quality childcare, free college and graduate-school education," he said, according to a readout of the meeting published on his website.

He added: "These are models, it seems to me, that we can learn from."

Socioeconomic mobility can be gauged by income. How do you calculate social mobility? Is it a test that measures how much your shit stinks? According to what I just read about the subject and I quote "In recent years, several studies have found that vertical intergenerational mobility is lower in the US than in some European countries." That's a little different than "lowest in the world". Considering the UK still has a monarchy and your blood lines are a determining factor in your social status I doubt social mobility is extremely high there either unless you count being "knighted" social mobility.

The reason for that is a safety net allows you to step onto the high wire of starting your own business. Without knowing I had healthcare for my family I wouldn't have set up businesses, I would have taken the government job I was offered.

Wrong. I speak a little Norse and I have friends/relatives in Oslo. I will be going to Norway in June for a family reunion. It’s easier to start a business in the US than anywhere else. Also you don’t have the huge taxes especially if you live in a tax free state.

Europe is still ran by the elites. Who do you think organized the European Union and benefits from it? Socialism is used to make the little people feel comfortable and stay in their place. Socialism is a great tool to keep the poor from killing the rich. I give them credit. They managed to write a great sounding constitution with certain clauses added that allow them to run Europe with non-elected officials and consolidate more wealth and power.

We just call them cocksuckers. Unless they're rug munchers. Rug munchers are cool. They come in handy for threesomes.

Abraham Lincoln very well could have been gay. Some of his behaviors and the situations he got into with other men hint that way. Oh well. Who cares what kind of holes his Lincoln log ended up in.
