I'm actually shocked he didn't hold out until Tuesday. I don't think he really would have picked up many delegates, but I figured he was arrogant enough (and had enough billionaire donors) to think so.

I think Cenk's been hitting the bong today
Do you not sometimes wonder about the process?
Most of everything you put candidates through before they become president has exactly nothing to do with the skills you would want your president to have apart from maybe reliance,
It's like interviewing someone for a job in IT by making them answer geography questions on a pogo stick.

Well, it's America. We tell kids "You can grow up and be whatever you want!" And with a little charisma and a lot of other people's money, one can run for president...
Oh there's no doubt that the entire process is fucked up. First of all, the fact that the whole thing is now a two year process. Fucking Israel is having their third election in one year today. The fact that they probably still won't get rid of NuttyYahoo means it's just as fucked over there for entirely different reasons, but at least they can go from zero to election within a matter of weeks.
The two year bullshit election cycle here is no doubt driven by the corporate media. Beyond that there's the primary process itself, always starting in the same two states. After the botched caucus this year, nobody's going to want Iowa to go first anymore. Don't know who will be first in 2024, but I sure hope it's not South Carolina, as they have proven themselves to get it totally wrong
If it were up to me, I wouldn't allow a single political ad until February of the election year. Then I would schedule primary season for April/May of the year, holding elections on the weekend with 10 states per week. Obama's "57" number was actually correct, despite all the right wing jokes about the comment. 50 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and damned if I remember what the others are this early in the morning, but you get the idea. Rotate the order every 4 years so no one state (or even no twn states) get to always "go first".
I would also get rid of the "clown car" thing. Not sure how you would enforce that, but any more than 10 people running for the office is just lunacy, as both parties have demonstrated in the last two cycles. And it goes without saying that the debate process needs to be pried away from the corporate media and returned to the League of Women voters or some other non-partisan, non-profit group.
That's enough rambling from my under-caffeinated brain on this subject, but I'll probably come back to this later.
And now it seems that Amy Klobuchar has stuck the salad comb in her campaign. Looks like the order has been given at DLC corporatist headquarters to back the Dementia addled, PNAC signator, tool of the Delaware banking cartels.
