    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurrection_Act_of_1807

The president can use the Insurrection Act in extreme cases like a state government or city government being in danger of being taken over or a state or local government denying US Citizens of their constitutional rights.

If we had a state government acting like a tyrant and denying citizens of their rights troops can be sent in or if the state government is under insurrection. A state or city failing to keep law and order but still functioning doesn’t justify using the Insurrection Act unless the local officials call for it.

If Trump just sends in troops without the permission of the state government then he is a tyrant. The only exception would be if the state government was a tyranny taking citizen’s rights away.

You can’t send in troops because a governor or mayor are incompetent.

People calling for what is, in effect, Martial Law...I don't think these folks have really thought that one through.

That should only be a last resort should the National Guard be unable to get a domestic situation under control and restore order.

I've never lived under Martial Law, and neither have any of those advocating for it to be enacted.

I don't ever want to live under Martial Law, and I believe those advocating for it wouldn't want to, either. If that comes to pass, we're under a dictatorship.
