I'm seeing the LA Times obit all over all sorts of people's social media.

Seems more complete and accurate than most...

Couldn't tell you the last time I posted on any VH forum until today but it just felt therapeutic to log in and say this sucks.

Eddie's most ironic line in the above interview....

You play until the day you die. It's not like - I can't wait until I'm 65 and retire...."

            Sad news. However somewhat expected.

After the death of Mark Stone I immediately thought about Eddie's situation. Just the other day I wondered how long until I wake up one morning and learn that Eddie had died. And I heard the news at 2 PM today on my local radio station. I was at work and decided to leave early and go home to process this information.

I'm paraphrasing someone here... "The worst thing about getting older is watching your heroes die."

            Goodbye Ed, and thank you.

Be safe and well Roth Army family.

David did warn us, more than once. I feel for him. Love you, Edward.

Ed smoked, drank and did drugs. Did those ultimately kill him, probably but without them we probably would not have his music either. Ed probably did not need them like Hagar often cited to open up his own limited imagination, but Ed probably used them to isolate himself so he could think about the music and not all the crap in this world which he seems to have worried about. The guy had stage fright and would often have to drink a six pack early on just to get on stage. He lived a troubled life to use his talent but he left us with something amazing... rest in peace Edward Van Halen, thank you for the music

I feel very sad, though it was predictable as the news about Ed were alarming lately.
Despite the part of negativity that was in the air now and then, my thoughts focus on the ultimate smiling guitar wizard in action. It's what comes to my mind spontaneously.

i did notice valerie's message said lung cancer, while most reports said throat cancer that had of of course spread to other organs... thanks for clearing that up.

also im sure everyone's seen those pics of ed's work bench with thousands of guitar parts and experimental construction. wonder what happens to that. perhaps an EVH museum!
