She's only 87 that's pretty young for an American politician. Could be a presidential pick for 2024!

She's a prime example of why we need term limits in all elected offices... also shows how poorly her electorate base chooses their representation.

I'm not against term limits, but in the world of our corrupt politicians, it will just make them do more illegal underhanded self serving bullshit, in a shorter amount of time.

Easy for you to say as far as her electorate. There are a whole host of fucking jackwagon assholes in congress from both sides that out of area people bemoan and ask "why reelect them??" But the simple fact is that longtime politicians have more power and bring home far more bacon than the freshmen can.

Worse than that, if mandatory term limits were imposed on all politicians, then the lobbyists would be the only ones working in Washington DC (or the state capitols, for that matter) with any experience, and would be running everything by default. Not like they aren't too powerful already.

It might not be fair or even legal to say that a politician above a certain age cannot serve in office, but it would be very reasonable to say they should have cognitive tests (as well as annual physicals) to prove they can still do the job. I would apply that rule to any politician over 70. Some of them would pass. Bernie Sanders is still working with a full brain, Pat Leahy seems to be as well (must be something about Vermont) Feinstein clearly is not, and Chuck Grassley is questionable.

It's probably a bigger issue in the Senate than the other branches of government because they serve 6 year terms. Feinstein was 85 when she last ran for office in 2018. Even a mentally healthy 85 year old probably shouldn't be running for a term that - statistically speaking - they aren't likely to finish.

It's completely ridiculous and shows the sheer narcissism of these people. It's not even like there is the RBG excuse that someone from the other side might get in, California is not likely to vote Republican any time soon.

30 plus million people only get 2 people in the senate and this is one of them? Fucking crazy stuff.

I'm not an out of area person... born and raised in the Monterey Bay area. I have over 80 family members in that area... only one of them has voted for or thinks Feinstein has been serving their interests in Washington for decades... the rest despise her and wish they had better representation in the Senate.

People can call me ageist if they like but would you use a 90 year old heart surgeon? Or maybe a better example is would you have employ a 90 year old lawyer to defend you in court or even buy a house for you?

These ancient motherfuckers have no business still being in Government. It just goes to show what a cake "job" it really is. Fucking dried up old cunt should have been put out to pasture many years ago.

That's not being ageist... there's a percentage of people who can work effectively into their 70's. Darn few that still have the ability into their 80's.

Given her money... there's no reason she needed to be working at that age. It's just pure ego and fucking power...

Plus they would never vote for term-limits. Why they stay in is pork, dirty politics and of course election fraud. Corruption and at the end of the day the citizens have the responsibility to clean it up.

Half the people age 85 have dementia and that’s if you made it to age 85.
