Not easy, especially when you have the luxury and means of not having to do it. The guy could have just hid from the public and did nothing. That would have been easier.

Ed was a once in a lifetime talent. I think we all remember the first time we heard Eruption or Mean Streets or something else great the guy did. You can count the people who bring that kind of magic to the world on one hand. It's rare as hell and I have no expectations that is going to pass on down to the children.

Where I have the respect for Wolfgang is he's doing something. Sure he can get on shows because of who his dad was but he's taking advantage of that opportunity during a hard emotional time for him and hey his songs aren't bad. Will Mammoth WVH be around in five years? I have no idea but I wish the guy the best.
    Exactly! wtf

Very interesting! and I wish WVH the best in his endeavour and I have no doubt he will succeed. From what I have heard he seems as a good person...and thats all that matters in the end, is it not?. as I watch his father doing his thing on YT...

The kid is definitely a Van Halen.

He said in the interview the album is a "hard rock" album. I can't wait to hear the whole thing. I'm not as excited as I would be for a Van Halen album, or live show on DVD, or anything from the real VH, but I am really looking forward to this album.

Wonder what would be happening if Ed were alive. Wolf opening for original band? "Kitchen sink" tour? This wouldn't be the first single so I don't think Mammoth VH would be on Kimmell or today shows..Ed dying really changed this kids future at a pivotal time.
And what is with the giant crab on the cover?

Guys, it was live. There are reasons it sounds good:
    1. Actual professional musicians who rehearse and practice.
    2. Sound check dialed in the mix at the soundboard.

No shit, Sherlock! Any other groundbreaking "special"notes you can bring us today?

Van Halen's crew intimidated Ronny threatening to kick his ass and that of his stage crew if he didn't stop his prolonged wankfest tunings after his soundcheck was over. His career disappeared shortly thereafter that tour.

And oh yeah, Eddie Van Halen accidentally doused Steve Perry with Guacamole after a a hissy fight with Roth. When Warner Bros called their manager after vaguely threatening to fire Van Halen if anything else happened, Monk almost laughed as Van Halen WAS the headlinger by the end...

I think they meant well overall. But sometimes drugs, alcohol, and the ego of being a savant genius can make you sort of bastards some of the time...

They did say they were sorry to Steve and Noel Monk cleaned him off with paper towels for the show LOL...

Funny thing about that Journey poster.... it's dated 1978, but Steve Perry isn't even in the picture. He joined the band in October 1977 and already had released the "Infinity" album by the time of the concert listed on that poster. They have George Tickner in the picture, who left the band in 1975.

Here's the same picture without the "grainy" effects....

Neal has a huge perm-a-fro! He's just a baby stoner here. On the other hand, George and Ansley already look like grandpas.

Neal started out young. He was only 16 when he joined Santana in 1971. So he was probably 20 or 21 when that picture was taken.

I have a friend who was in a band in San Francisco and they had some studio time booked. Neal Schon very apologeticly said they needed the studio but he would pay for my friend’s band’s studio time if they rescheduled. They agreed so they got a freebie from Neal.
