That was the one thing I never quite got during the initial back and forth between Roth and the Van Halens in the media beginning in 1985 after Dave left the group...

There was bad blood between them years before when Hagar said Dave's performance on Pretty Woman was an embarrassment and Dave responded by saying after seeing Hagar's wife he knew why Hagar sang so many songs about his car!

I've been searching for the links to this for many years, I read it in the UK Kerrang 'Kwotes' of the Year I think for 1982 before Hagar was even in the band.
