    Fuck the Grammys

Reaction to the crappy way the Grammys in a 3 and a half fucking hours long show devoted just 15 seconds to Eddie Van Halen.

Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, says he declined an offer to play “Eruption” as a tribute to his dad during this year’s Grammy’s, he revealed on Twitter Monday. “I don’t think anyone could have lived up to what my father did for music but himself,” Wolfgang wrote, explaining that he was then surprised to see the tribute become just a brief display of his guitar. “I didn’t realize they would only show Pop for 15 seconds in the middle of four full performances for others we had lost.”

“What hurt the most,” Wolfgang continued, “was that he wasn’t even mentioned when they talked about artists we lost in the beginning of the show. I know rock isn’t the most popular genre right now (and the academy does seem a bit out of touch) but I think it’s impossible to ignore the legacy my father left on the instrument, the world of rock, and music in general. There will never be another innovator like him.”

Wolfgang acknowledged that his father, who died last year after a long battle with cancer, wouldn’t have cared about any of it. “I know Pop would probably just laugh it off and say, ‘Eh, who gives a shit?’ He was only about the music anyway. The rest didn’t matter.” But he offered to speak to the Recording Academy “not just about the legacy of my father, but the legacy of the rock genre moving forward.” (A spokesperson for the Recording Academy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)

Wolfgang, who toured and recorded on bass with Van Halen, is releasing his self-titled debut album as Mammoth WVH (in which he sings and plays all the instruments), on June 11th.

They gave a Grammy to Beyoncé's 9-year-old daughter????

Is best nursery rhyme performance a new category?

What a fucking joke, they make the Golden Globes look like a serious arts award event.

I didn't bother watching. Not a big Trevor Noah fan and the performer list was meh.

For how many years did the Grammy's try to look down on hard rock music as dumb and now it's giving top awards to the children of artists to keep in with them and showing 'performances' of Wet Ass Pussy?

            Where were Steel Panther?

Nuno should have had an editor proof read that.

I'm glad Wolfgang turned it down. I also disagree with Nuno's assessment that a bunch of guitar greats should have been up there playing Ed's music. Why? So they could self promote themselves while butchering Ed's great work? Fuck that. They should have played one of Ed's live solo's on a big screen.

I'm glad I'm out of touch and didn't even know this shit was on tv. Not that I'd have watched anyway. I was working in my garage, blasting the Black Label "Unblackened" DVD at extremely high volume.

If you whining pussy incels would shut the fuck up for a minute and quit acting like victim Republicans and are looking for accolades on Eddie there was a brilliant write up of him in the February 2021 Edition of Mojo Magazine in their obituary section ('Real Gone') called "The Toughest Around" that is well worth the read. Now I know I'm wasting my time seeing many of you cretin butt plugs can't read beyond a third grade level anyway.

I only wanted to hear Ed play Ed’s music. Glad I got to see him live a bunch of times. I still enjoy playing the recorded music but I’m going to let Ed Rest In Peace. The master has left the building.

I don't think I've ever even seen a Grammys broadcast...I have no recollection of ever watching one...nor do I recall ever having checked out an artist or bought an album because they/it was a Grammy winner, or Grammy nominated, or whatever.

Looking back on the Grammy awards, guess what, Van Halen was always shit on.
Not even nominated for best new artist.

Depending what year they would have been nominated, here are the incredible winners(:
1977 Starland Vocal band. Yep the guys who came up with Afternoon Delight.
