Did you ever think you would be old enough to say I saw VH 43 years ago?
That’s like your parents telling you in 1978, that they saw Frank Sinatra in 1935.

Given my life choices in the 70's/80's... honestly no, I didn't leave much in the tank for living a long life. Quite thankful that I have exceeded my own expectations and take much better care of myself now!!

He seems miserable to me. A sniveling little egocentric shithead. S P A M M Y so desperately wanted to reform VH not for the fans but strictly for the money, so fuck him.

Here's all you need to know about Clichegar. A list of GREAT guitarists that couldn't put up with his sorry ass.

          1. Ronnie Montrose
          2. Neil Schon
          3. Edward Van Halen
          4. Joe Satriani

Am I missing anyone? Maybe not considered a great, but even Gary Pihl couldn't put up with him, and he put up with Tom Scholz.
Not to defend Sammy because i hate his lame Ass…

But Dave has a list of guitarists 3x times longer.

          Eddie Van Halen
          Steve Vai
          Jason Becker
          Rocket Richotte
          Terry Kilgore
          John 5
          Hartman
          Toshi Hiketa
          Bart Walsh
          Brian Young
And a couple other touring bums lol

You might need to set a better example Von, I love Dave to death but he’s not exactly the easiest guy to work with….. Dave’s ego dismantled his greatest lineup during skyscraper.

I beg to differ, WARF my friend. He reconciled with EVH. Steve Vai maybe. Jason Becker extenuating circumstances, nothing to do with Dave. John 5 still works with Dave and always will whenever Dave calls. Rocket Richotte, how dare you mention him with EVH, Schon, Ronnie Montrose and Satch! The rest of these guys, Dave sent packing. They were nothing without him. Clichegar has had no less than 4 GREAT guitarists that can stand on their own any day of the week, fire his sorry ass.

Other than the late Bart Walsh all his guitarists are on good terms with Dave.

Walsh felt he was not paid for some work he was indeed paid for.

I'm sure that Walsh got stiffed somewhere by someone in Dave's organization.

I'm sure Dave's been stiffed for work he has done.

I have been stiffed many times for my work.

                      All of us get stiffed.

That’s true, but most of Dave’s guitarists with the exception of Ed and John 5 never worked with Dave longer than 2 or 3 years.

That may or may not be true, people in Roth's solo band were very much employees but when I talked with them they were very happy with the gig. They stayed at the same luxury hotels as Dave and on the whole seemed to really admire him. Ray Luzier was with him for a long time as was Brian Young. Many of the others would liked to have stayed longer.

I think the real point when comparing the solo careers is when Hagar surrounded himself with the best talent he still released to my ear very mediocre stuff because he isn't a good songwriter. Compare Chickenfoot to the EEAS band.
