There's plenty of Republican run shitholes, there's a list of most violent cities I read a ways back adjusted for population and most of them were in Red States.
Most of it is "White Flight" enabled by the Eisenhower highway system that began in the 1950's resulting in the suburbs. So you have things like white suburban school districts receiving several times the school budget an inner city school does. And we're supposed to act as if it is all the same...

That would be because Canada is the 8th sparsest country on earth. My area has 4.8 people per sq km compared to many parts of the US that are well above ten times that. Not many gangs roaming around the middle of Saskatchewan
