Right now it seems like the Democrats are likely to gain seats in the Senate, but the House could be up for grabs, mostly due to gerrymandered redistricting which always happens once a decade. And with more state legislatures under Republican control, you can guess who the gerrymandering favored. Fortunately most of those are smaller states, so they don't have as many house seats up for grabs. (Wyoming, for example... which just traded Liz Cheney in for a full blown MAGAtt... only has one House seat for the entire state)

Given how unstable the US democracy is at the moment it's much more important to win the senate...

As far as judicial appointments go, definitely. As far as any legislation being passed... all that stuff that passed the House and died in the Senate over the last few years would remain dead if the House flipped over to Joe... er.... Kevin McCarthy and a bunch of teabaggers & MAGAtts running the committees.

As much as I hate "single issue" elections, the right wing dumbasses on the Extreme Court pretty much handed the corporate media the basis for the "it's all about abortion" narrative. Which admittedly is at least a valid issue as opposed to their previous narrative of "sure we suck ass, but we still suck less ass than Trump". So if that brings voters to the polls who might otherwise skip a mid term election, so be it.... I'll just hope these voters also care about the other important issues like climate change, getting corporate money out of politics, and tearing down this global predatory capitalism before we all go bankrupt at the grocery store and/or gas station.

This is a horses ass argument manufactured by the extreme right, the idea that elections shouldn't matter much conveniently as smaller and smaller segments if the US public vote Republican. It's based on a flimsy semantical argument regarding the "Founding Fathers" that has no bearing on the Constitution or law. They referred to the US as a "republic" as opposed to a (ancient Greco) democracy). Basically the Greeks had a very direct democracy where issues were voted on via plebiscite and this often incited riots and societal violence that could border on civil war. The FF's were talking about the direct representatives that are democratically elected professionals that we have now as opposed to everyone voting on the US defense budget outside a pub or bar. So by "republic" they meant a system of democratically elected leaders, exactly what we have now, as opposed to Grecian "democracy" that could devolve into mob rule. It has nothing to do with the voter suppression and marginalization as fascists often imply...

Of course in ancient Greece and Rome they didn't spend all their time trying to stop the children of ex slaves from voting...

The US is a republic to protect the minority. The founders didn’t want a majority rules system because one or two states would decide everything. It’s why there is an Electoral College and every state has equal representation in the senate. Senators originally were appointed by the state legislatures because the US Senate was supposed to represent the states in Washington. The appointments of senators was later changed to to a public vote.

Modern Democrats want to get rid of the electoral college because currently they control the big population centers in the US. They would get a Democrat president every election. They would not want this if Republicans controlled the big population centers

Also the current ilk of leftists democrats seem to call everyone they disagree with a fascist (whatever that means). Fascism is when the state combines with private business and creates a totalitarian monopoly on power. Calling the opposition fascists is an old communist strategy to attempt to demean so later persecution of the political enemies is justified. It’s all about power and trying to justify grabbing it.

All that means is absence of a monarchy or government rule with a monarchy. The founding rich racist assholes came here to get away from kings and queens only to install dictators and autocrats.

Ha! Ha! Who knows if he threw him under the bus or not. The media is so full of shit anymore and I think most people just don’t pay attention to it anymore. The public has been fucked with so much people are cracking up. It’s why you see so much anger and bizarre behavior.
