I think I caught the end of the 'tape charges' thing doing demo's in the late 80s. It's amazing now to think how paying for 8" tape could be so insanely expensive, $5 000 a day in todays money...

On the Purple Rain order they show a C60 cassette for $6. I just finished two books on Prince's sessions from Purple Rain to Sign 'O The Times, he would regularly request a cassette of whatever he worked on that day.
