Interesting reading everyone's viewpoint. They are played on stage, striped by him, and signed. I can't see how that would be a bad investment. Gotta think they will go up in value over the long haul.

I thought it slightly odd he didn't play one at Staples Saturday night, but then maybe he and Charvel didn't make enough of them to cover the "additional" 1st leg shows (much less the 2nd leg)...
IIRC...There's been a run for each tour, never heard how many were done this time...
A guy mentions previously, but I remember the guitars from last tour that were sold (also Ebay), so I know this isn't a new idea. He plays these for one tune and personally stripes em, signs em, and sells em. If someone would want to pay to have something unique from a guitar legend - I think that's great.
I do remember reading about a guy who bought one from the 2004 tour(I believe) and he said that the stripes were done with sharpie!
Looks like there's currently 3 from this tour on the Ebay page...
http://stores.ebay.com/EVH-Art-Series-Guitars
Interestingly, this one's striped in 2 out of the 3 colors the EVH Stealth is available in it appears... I kinda like it...
Uh, yeah....don't think I'd pay $7K for it, but pretty damn cool...
That is pretty sweet!
Noting what famous musicians guitars go for at auctions this really isn't a bad deal. You get a guitar you can prove where it was played, that a very famous guitarist played it, autographed it, and striped it . That's more than 3/4 of the journey when you are establishing the value. I'm thinking I may try and get one.

Hey, if you've got the disposable income and want a piece of VH 2012-tour history, go for it!
I'm fully expecting Ed to simply mail one each to all RA mods and webbies, but that's just me....
Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
Ed's spare tire has lost air...
Dig the white one.
No cash. For rich peeps only, apparently.
I wonder how much more money Ed makes each night by selling these as a percentage.
I could be wrong but my rough estimate is that they make net after all the costs $100k a night each. I could be wrong on that but it's in that ballpark as a minimum.
Ed's slightly tacky guitar scheme maybe adds 5% to his income then?
If it was me I would do it as a local charity thing in each city which would possibly make more cash anyway because of the free advertising...
No idea what get's made off these. However, he donated 75 of his guitars to LA schools through the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.
I have been in contact with ELVH, Inc. about the guitars. Here is some information that was shared with me.
- They are guitars from the current tour and the two before it.
- Eddie did stripe all of them.
- 300 total made
- 2 played per night
- The last 10 to 15 are going to be sold over the next couple of weeks.
- Eddie autographs each.
- Once the last ones are sold there will never be another attempt at this.
Personally, I think its pretty cool that he's doing this. Maybe he makes some coin off it but so what. He's famous and he knows people will pay "big dollars" to own something he created, signed, and played at a Van Halen concert. Heck, the Fender Frankinstein Strat copies the custom shop did went for $15,000.00 to $ 25,000.00. These come in at a much lower price and he played them during a live show. His time is worth a buck or two and I don't fault him for expecting to be paid for his time, and effort.
Trying to own a piece of rock n roll and a guitar played by one of the guitar gods isn't an easy thing to do. Trying not to be taken isn't easy. Over paying for something you really aren't sure is the real deal is a reality. At least your assured of these guitars being "the real deal" on a whole bunch of different levels. If nothing else YouTube shows what guitar got played at each concert.
The Opus Foundation better keep these fuckers locked up. If they are worth so much, there will be all kinds of motherfuckers trying to steal them.
Look what arrived....Yes, I pulled the trigger on one.
Congrats!
That's awesome man! Congrats!
Stay Frosty!
THE DAY IS DONZO LET'S HAVE SOME FUNZO!!
So Baru, what's the plan for it? Display mostly and play every now and then? I'd have to display it so that I could get to the damn thing when I've had a few beers
American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.
HOLY SMOKES DUDE!
Wow! You chose a great one too. Rawr! thats awesome! Wish I had that kinda money. I can't even afford paper to print out a picture of it right now. Did it come with those picks? Are the used? Oh damn...stage used picks would kick ass too! I wonder what song he played with it? You could easily go through the youtubes & pinpoint it. Maybe print out some screenshots to frame around it.
Damn i'm impressed. That's killer!
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey butthole, here's Eddie playing your guitar.
Dang Sesh, that's awesome...
And the nicest one I've seen...
Cool stripes...
Very very nice...
$xxxx isn't too bad for something like that, I suppose...

It's not money wasted especially if you are a fan. It will keep it's value better than the paper and digital illusion people have put their trust in.
OK, that's pretty fucking cool. Hey, baru911, screw blurry screenshots, you should contact the local newspaper (or at least troll the F out of their show review photo gallery) and see if they have any high-res shots of it in action!
Btw, does that have the Frankie pickup in it, or the Wolfgang, or what?

I'm gonna end up displaying it on a wall with a frame that I'll build around it. The plans I have are to place the signed 1984 album with Eddie's, Alex's, and Mike's signature on it inside, along with the Diver Down album that Dave signed. There will be a few back stage passes from the early 80's shows thrown in there also. Once its done I'll post a picture. I've played it once but will not again. I'm no Eddie Van Halen.
You might want to, if you can't do it yourself - have someone disassemble it long enough to shoot a coat of clear on the body to preserve the signature. If that's just done with a plain-'ol sharpie on there it's gonna smudge the first time you play it if you're not careful.
Why did I think Sesh bought it...
:retarded:
Well just the guitar is worth what? A grand alone? The add the fact that it is an actual STAGE PLAYED by EDDIE VAN HALEN in your town with David Lee Roth and you have the video to prove it of I'll Wait. Worth every cent.
Like I said before, if I had the money to buy a great item like this I would not even hesitate. And it matches the VHII styled one which is pretty dang cool too.
