Stuff I see on here and in real life with the 'I reject mainstream media' people. It's not a right or left thing happens to both.

    a) Mainstream media is flawed but if you wholesale reject it you are just replacing it with stuff with even fewer checks and balances.
    b) That stuff is by design going to reinforce everything you think and then make it more extreme because that will make you feed it
    c) It will make you think that stuff that doesn't actually matter very much is very important like trans stuff or whatever. On both sides of that argument.
    d) It makes you used to not hearing other opinions or facts outwith your tribe.

If you want to be better informed you have to learn critical thinking and listen to sources and voices and opinions that you may disagree with otherwise you have turned yourself into a sheep.

This is ironic because the people it happens to most think that they are the real 'free thinkers' when actually they have just fallen down a hole. This happens equally left or right leaning politics although at this point I think that's becoming bullshit and people should be paying more attention to authoritarian v non authoritarian because that is more likely to fuck with your day to day life. Especially if say your daughter gets knocked up on a one night stand at 17 and someone like Ron says she can't have an abortion because he gets to decide that.

Same here. Present an ID, they look it up in the hard copy, and sign. We may be able to present a utility bill and make a provisional vote, I don't remember.

There are people who don't want to be "tracked," so they don't get driver's licenses or state ID, or vote. We are asked when we renew our licenses if we're a registered voter, and if not, you're able to sign up.

So you need to drive a car to be able to vote? Who the fuck ever risks committing a felony to add an extra vote or two in elections of millions of voters? It just doesn't happen. Postal votes maybe sometimes a little but not in person.

No, they ask at the DMV in an effort to get more people to vote. No different than a private organization trying to get people to vote. Just an "as long as you're here, we'll ask."

What bugs me about it is the lying. If you think that the underclass, people without their shit together shouldn't get to vote because you pay tax and they don't then say that. Go back to the 1900s and say you need to have property a penis and a white face to vote just be honest about it and stop pretending it's about fraud.

It's maybe even a valid argument, I'm one of those people that pays tax once a year and it hurts every time. There is a position to be taken that only the people doing that get a vote because they are paying for what the government does. This would at least help us move on a bit culturally because it would stop retired people voting and they are way over represented at the moment because they have the time to vote.

Again, ID's should be provided for free by local or state governments bending over backwards to insure senior citizens are represented and don't have to tripe through bureaucratic bullshit. Voters are already fucking registered and I have to sign a book every time I vote as an affidavit. It's a bullshit trope. It's like saying we need to enact laws against succubus's raping our assholes with dildos in the middle of the night. Sure, maybe that's a thing but really it isn't a public safety issue and has almost nothing to do with most peoples reality...

See this has made me angry too because the UK conservatives saw the gerrymandering possibilities of voter ID from the US but there was push back from our strange upper house (unelected senate) which weirdly obviously shouldn't exist but sometimes does the right thing, and so they added provisions like that, So now a big expensive 'big government' waste of taxpayers money is being set up costing literally hundreds of millions to solve a non existent issue invented to try and gerrymander some votes.

And if one doesn't drive and would just like a state issued ID for whatever reason, they get it at...wait for it...the DMV!

It isn't tied into having a license or ID, it was an attempt to get more people on the rolls.

As of this April, state issued ID is free for those 17 and older.

And if they can't get to the DMV, and have no computer access then what? (BTW, that's a big thing in the South with elderly black people, which is mainly where this all stems from). In any case someone can vote then fill out a form testifying that they have the right to vote in the even if they don't have an ID. But great we spend so much time worrying about things that are not actually any sort of problem,,,,

Then they aren't likely to be voters anyways. The same people I mentioned not wanting to be "tracked" (which is the way they put it). They don't use traditional banking services, they don't use government services, they don't vote. Don't tell me they don't exist because I know plenty of people like that.

Or like the cunt you voted for, you can try to prevent voters from mailing in ballots by #&&#ta-fucking-DAHHH(**#@& putting up obstacles to voter turnout like limiting where ballots can be dropped off...

But hey, anymore "solutions" nonexistent issues or problems you have?

Ooops, fucked that up Apologies to Tuna, I thought I was quoting but edited instead and I inadvertently deleted about a paragraph of his text. Sorry man:

You didn't spend much time reading the analysis on that site you linked. In the Policies tab every answer highlighted with a blue circle represents a left leaning response and the red a right leaning response. Blue outnumbers Red by a significant margin. I figured the simple color scheme would be easy for you numbskulls to understand.

Go look at the data analysis/rankings in the Ratings and Themes tabs. In the Themes analysis DeSantis scored more Left leaning and neutral than Right leaning in most categories.

Your example fully supports my opinion of DeSantis being more of a centrist than a hard core right wing radical.

Thank you for proving my point... You and NickD can go have a Bud Light on me

While your explanation of the blue circles & red circles should logically correspond to the current symbolism of those colors in US poltics (Blue= D /Red = R) this doesn't hold up with DeSantis's answers. For example, to the question Should employers be required to pay men and women the same salary for the same job? Meatball Ron answered "No", but there's a blue circle around it. Obviously this is NOT a "left-leaning" response to the question. I'm guessing in 2023 that even the majority of Republican voters would support equal pay for equal work. So clearly DeSantis is way off in MAGAtt fringe land here, despite whatever coding error on that website caused that response to have a "blue circle". It's not the only such error on the page.

Everything RonDa is saying now is to be mini me Trump for the base. Just see how quick he dumps his rhetoric shit if he becomes the Rep Nominee.

This type of thing is loved by 35% of the base and is needed for him to win nomination however in the election it would be deeply unpopular with the vast majority and an anchor around his neck. He would quickly dump the idea in an election campaign or guarantee a loss.

I have no idea the criteria applied to that analysis to determine blue -vs- red (left -vs- right). In my opinion, equal pay between the binary biological genders is universally supported by most people regardless of political affiliation. Neither party opposes pay equality that I've observed.

The pay question is over simplified as presented which would lead to me answering "No" without further clarification. For example... 2 people with similar experience of opposite biological genders hired the same time, for the same position deserve the same/equal starting salary. Two years later... those same parties and one is a high performer and the other a lower performer. In a merit based system, which most companies operate your high performer deserves a higher rate of pay than your low performer regardless of which gender they were born with. Its about performance not who has a penis or a vagina.

"No" would be a correct answer in my real world example... Republican or Democrat... right or left... doesn't factor into the equation at all.

Unless they are Union. Unions don't base pay or promotions on merit. They base on seniority. Go figure they're Democrat supporters.

You can be the laziest fuck in the place, with a penis or a vagina, and you'll get the promotion if you've worked there longer. Merit and accomplishments mean NOTHING. What a great system.

I think the elections are sort of a big deal. Yes, there ways for old people to get to DMV's, but we're not talking about the Northeast, we're talking more about shitty shanty towns in bumfuck, the South...

Not everywhere is the same, probably a lot of small towns are pretty localized for elections but may not have a DMV. Here, in Erie County, the fucktard that was the then commissioner decided we could save lots of money by closing all but TWO DMV's (right after building a brand new one in Orchard Park). This caused massive lines resulting in people driving to nearby counties to go to their DMV's meaning that the county lost a lot of money because they didn't get a cut of the fees and some border counties actually set up mobile DMV's just over the line....

Your assumptions about "old" people are way off... Majority of seniors have had or currently possess drivers licenses/IDs for decades. They know where to get them/renew them and haven't been operating without valid IDs and voter registration for decades. Yes... even down here in the backwoods of the fucking South... Moron... This whole business of having an ID to function in life is older than you or me... It's not some new thing in the least.

I will say if an elderly person who gave up driving and actively functioning in the normal business in life a long time ago may not have a valid ID... odds are they also lack the capacity or motivation to get out and vote. So your point is mute there too... Think these thing thru Nick... not that complicated or relevant.

Well from the mouths of babes, or geezers....

Well "moron", whatever laws that have been on the books, I think 1950 was the first one IIRC, they were pretty lenient and one could vote with a library card without a picture and were largely ignored. It wasn't until white people became a shrinking demographic in the 2000's that Republicans started to take these laws seriously and enact much more stringent ones...

What if they don't lack capacity or motivation to vote? Fuck them? What is even the point of any of these laws, there are almost no incidents of voter fraud and even when there are they won't decide an election. The more stringent of these laws are clearly voter suppression...
