Ex-Smiths Bassest Andy Rourke Bought A Farm

From those liberal Commies at NPR:

Andy Rourke, whose fluid bass playing helped The Smiths soar from their roots in Manchester, England, to become an influential and beloved indie rock band, has died at age 59 even though he was a limey. Gee, thanls again. Obama."

Rourke had been ill with pancreatic cancer, Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr said as he announced the news.

"Andy will always be remembered," Marr said via Instagram, "as a kind and beautiful soul by everyone who knew him, and as a supremely gifted musician by people who love music."

Andy was a bad ass. Powerful and thoughtful bass played who never wasted a note. And Johnny "Still Crying For Help" Marr never sounded the same without him. Sure, Morrissey was/is a total cunt and he never sounded the same without Andy. The drummer? Who gives a fuck about him? R.I.P. Andy.

Now if you excuse me, I have a lot of drugs and grieving to do.

The Smith’s were a great band with their own vibe and sound.

I always hated them and back in the day here at least all the cool folk loved them and thought anyone that liked rock music was a dumb racist fuckwit so living to see Morrissey outed as a nasty racist cunt has brought much joy and smugness.

Most people are pricks. Enjoy the art for arts sake. The guitarist was really good.

Ah it’s all disposable junk food.

They sold their ass, cocks and balls, they took the check and walked away.

Meat might be murder but it makes a tasty burger.

Part of my resistance to them back in the day had little to do with the music itself (much of which I liked) but this attitude of the fans that if one considered themselves to be hip and intellectual then by default one MUST like the band and one MUST consider everything their singer said - either lyrically or in an interview setting - to be nothing short of brilliant. That sort of late-teens art school pretentious mentality...like, one couldn't admit to that lot back in the day that it was possible to like both The Smiths and...say, Iron Maiden.

Then again, one would have to be a teenager to actually take anything a rock singer/movie actor/athlete says in an interview setting as anything to base your own life decisions on...or to buy into the public personas of celebrities in general. Hopefully when one gets older, you realize these entertainers on a personal level are more than capable of being just as full of shit as anybody, famous or not.

In 1989, Smith was probed by Q Magazine about if he had anymore to say on the matter and, with a sense of joy, he aimed a shot Morrissey’s music as well as his morbid persona. The Cure singer sniped: “He’s a precious, miserable bastard. He’s all the things people think I am. Morrissey sings the same song every time he opens his mouth. At least I’ve got two songs, ‘The Love Cats’ and ‘Faith.’ If only people knew how easy it is to be in groups like the Smiths…”

I like meat. My family owned cattle ranches. I still found The Smith's amusing. I guess I liked the guitar playing. I didn't pay much attention to the cry baby singer. Angry people from the midlands made some pretty good music. That shit was junk food pleasure. I have no idea why people follow it like scripture.

I thought everyone was full of shit as a teenager. As soon as I found out Santa Claus was not real as a kid, I was done trusting anyone.

A hard lesson to learn at such a young age, but a necessary one: don't/never trust Whitey.
