I don't think it would happen in the same way now because people are so much more used to 'social media' and would be less naive and more cautious when dealing with a dangerous girl with mental issues on the internet.

Am kind of in the same boat...had heard just enough about it at the time to sort of not want to hear anymore about it because I wasn't in the mix, it wasn't my business and it just sounded like a bunch of hassle I didn't need. I have to add this whole shebang...my wife, daughter & I watch a ton of horror movies around October. No, it isn't interesting at all. I guarantee you that there are a ton of other cameras in the place. They weren't just filming her!! This is standard practice for museums, theaters, etc. For all we know, she's in the middle of the shot circulating because news outlets and YouTube cropped the footage to center it on her. (They also highlighted her in the shot...NOT the museum, but the news outlets and YouTube.)

Why do you think it got leaked to the media? Because the woman has a sick, rabid following and she lied in her first statements about what happened. Any theater worried about the backlash from her following would happily take their security footage and publish it to confirm that her initial story was a lie. No way would the theater let there be any room for doubt over what actually happened because they weren't about to take the blame for what they had to do.

Do you really think that if this happened in New York and AOC was caught doing the exact same thing, the theater would not release the footage in order to protect their credibility?
