    When Alex Kicks the Can...

If things are the way some say, it's Alex that is in charge of all things VH and it's Val/Wolf/Val's brother who are focused on Wolf. Does this mean that when Alex croaks Dave will be in charge of all things VH? He could destroy all the Van Hagar albums? Take them off streaming services, set the masters on fire, proceed in a world with barely any evidence other than Von Halen's record shelf that these albums ever existed?

If so, this prospect is exciting.

    Discuss..

You still got a beef with him after all this time?

I wish I could bump the thread where you met him back in the day but that was on the other long lost site unfortunately.

LOL a former colleague of ours asked me to recount it on Facebook some time ago. I'll see if I can fish that out.

I was a very angry poster back in those days (04 or so), so I had to seize the moment when I saw Al. Then he told me to "fuck off" and I saw a zillion green lights. But yeah, it's all good now. It's odd what a reunion, 3 tours and an album can do for a man's outlook

Mo Austin chairman of the board at Warner Brother’s suggested that the band change its name from Van Halen to something else. I think that would have made better legal and marketing sense. I don’t think the Sammy era even sold half of what the Roth era sold in albums. It really was a different band. Sammy lyrics are so bad you just laugh.

Good memory--it was the Grove in LA. Me and a couple buddies and Al and 4-5 of his crew, back in '05.

Or would Als vote go to his kids? Which would be interesting too since they hate Wolf.

I suspect Alex has a trust setup where his sons inherit control of the publishing, intellectual property rights and royalty streams. Based on past history it'll stay within the Van Halen family... but that doesn't mean any significant controlling shift to Wolfgang. Most likely Al's kids.

Ed left Wolfgang his house, studio, EVH musical instruments and just voting rights without publishing ownership. I assume Wolfgang get's Ed's full royalty cut.

Whatever legal deal Dave has currently will stand for the remainder of his life and possibly go to his sister given no heir identified.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ownership of the VH catalog sold off as many big artists have done... but that may not be the case with Al as he seems to quietly hold what's his...

Two things said that could use a little bit o’ corroborating here.

    Al’s kids hate Wolf.
Joe backed out of the tour.

Any printed validity to these claims out on the interwebs?

Why would people want Joe to back out?

He had trouble pretending to be Ed so I’m sure this tour will go just fine.

Nitro suggested that Joe pulled out of the tour. Not sure where he got that from.

And I don’t see sneaky Joe turning tail on this one. The money is too green. He’s going to be a busy boy this year.

Joe will read this thread and wind up quitting and we'll have Nitro to thank!
