Deep Purple’s current lineup is Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, and Don Airey. Yes’ current lineup is Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Billy Sherwood, Jon Davison, and Jay Schellen. But no Purple without the Blackmore plunger? Forget it.

    Golly!

Kristy, I'll be in Denver July 31st to August 5th. When and where are we meeting?

You pimped out on me in 2015. Are you going to do the same this time?

How the fuck is "Yes" still touring with no original band members? If it's Steve Howe & Geoff Downes they might as well call it "Asia".

Fake Purple also only has one original member, Ian Paice. But at least Gillan & Glover were in the best version of the band. Still ain't really Purple without Blackmore though. Is he still making the Renaissance Fair music with his wife?

I'm not even sure Blackmore could play with Purple these days even if he wanted to and they wanted him to...

Although Blackmore never came and flat-out said so, the buzz a few years back when he reformed 'Rainbow' and did some gigs in Europe playing an entire set of Deep Purple/Rainbow tunes in the traditional, electrified hard rock combo milieu was that [Blackmore] wanted to revisit the hard rock stuff while he still physically could because he was beginning to suffer from arthritis in his hands and he worried that in not too many more years he physically wouldn't be able to play anymore.

As to what Ford said, at least this version of Purple has three members of the definitive lineup...but, yeah, how are they calling that 'Yes' with just Steve Howe? But I bet they'll price the tickets as if they had three or more members of one of the definitive Yes lineups onstage...I think Chris Squire has passed away...who the fuck knows who else from either the 1970's Yes groupings or the 1980's 90215 Yes lineup is still around...I mean, who the fuck knows from 'Yes' anymore?

I do remember a time in the 1980s when it seemed like almost every band on the radio or MTV could be linked to either Deep Purple or Black Sabbath, if not both. Never saw it actually documented on paper before now though.

Well KISS performed with only half its original members. Now Thank’s to Gene and Paul bands will create AI avatars of themselves. Makes sense. Everything is fake today.
