EVH was the man as far as rock guitar went back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. All the bullshit that comes out of his mouth and out of his band since then won't negate that for me.
EVH and his band have done nothing for me since Roth left. Must be nice to dig EVH music no matter what he does/regardless of era.
Dave made a bunch of music since he left VH that I dug. EVH hasn't.
Bottom line is Roth could have given as many witty interviews over the years and kept the same attitude he had with classic VH intact, but if his records sucked and he failed to entertain live, none of the surface shit would matter.
Same token, EVH and Co could have slammed Dave in the press and Ed could have been the most ungracious, egotistical drunkard on the planet, but if EVH's music continued to move me the way it did on those first 6 VH records, I could really give a shit about the rest of it.
Will never undertand how someone can profess to like classic VH and like the substandard stuff VH put out after Roth left.
