Talk Classic Rock - The Official Message Board For Classic Rock -- Now on XenForo!
Van Halen outsells Van Hagar for the obvious reason of it being good rock n roll. Cut n Dry. Van Hagar boasts more #1 hits? Simple pimple. When Sam joined the band, thats when they actually tried to capture the #1 spots all the time. They then began making music that was radio friendly and thought about the $$$, instead of thinking about the fan base. They sold themselves to the record industry when Dave left. Dave still did the "shoo bopping" and making ahead of its time music and video despite the industry and their finger shaking at him.
Van Halen gained in popularity and lost their integrity. Remember when Van Halen used to mean something? Remember Dave in interviews saying, "VH music makes you feel like you are apart of the band and its creation- you were Van Halenized!"
Anybody that says Balance rules should be immediately ejected from said premises without prejudice.
BALANCE SUCKS DOG BALLS!!!!
FUCK YOU Van HAgar SHEEP!!!
"Wham bam Amsterdam, stone you like nothing else can" ???? wtf?
fuck you Hagar, you wrecked another potentially great song... story of your life with VH.
At least it wasn't about love...
Go home the Earth is full....
Balance wasnt all that bad,
there were definitely had low points....
Aftershock was an ok song, a lot harder than previous material
his lyrics are a little juvenile though....
i agree with sambo
where is that, riaa.com?
why does sammy always say he sold more than dlr? its nearly a fuckin 2 to 1 ratio
Got beef with my comments? Blow me!

Ok... eject me cos balance is a good album in parts. Take away the pussy bits.. csly etc and the lyrics from Amsterdam.. piss poor by anyones standard.. including Ed's and the music is fucking good. VH's best music always came from friction. The greatest classic VH music came with Fair Warning. An album that surpasses anything before and since.. simply cannot be beaten.
As for the stats, I aint crying cos I helped make them. Bought ALL Classic VH twice, some three times, on record and CD... ex bastard husband stole my VH and left UFO/Schenker.. never a better reason to divorce!!
If it wasnt for the biggest selling album of all time, Michael Jackson's thriller. Van Halen would have had the number one album of the year.
Throw that at the Spamsters that say we all bought the albums
multiple times, and thats why there is better figures for Dave.
Did we all buy three copies of 1984 when it was released ??
No.... So Fuck off Spamsters..
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
Love ya Mary Frances!
Panamark.. thats not what I was saying. Fact is when they're that good, when I had the chance to get them in a better format, I did. If they are remastered, I will again. When music becomes a part of our history, of who you are, thats what you do.
Diver Down outsold Fair Warning?! That's just plain wrong.
Well, it didn't have a Top 40 single, see. Pretty Woman and Dancing In The Streets drove a lot of sales of DD to the great unwashed.Originally posted by Vivian Campbell

FW has actually shown increasingly higher than average post-peak yearly sales. This is due to Unchained growing in popularity more and more over time. To the point of now being a true classic rock radio staple.

The ONLY fucking reason I can even stand any of the Van Hagar stuff is because of Eddie Fucking VH and Alex. I could listen to them play all day. I hate Hagar. That fat mothereffer.
Oh........I'm the MOTHEREFFER.
Mothereffer
also , don't forget platinum vs release ratio , vh are the numero uno band in the usa

If you also put the number of sales worldwide with it (Classic VH in Europe (15 mio) en Van Fag (4mio) New Halen (65, the have a large family here in The Netherlands) then it is so clear!

There was NOTHING clear about that.
The only reason 5150 sold what it did and went number one was because the band was still riding the wave known as 1984, and some misguided fans didn't realize how shitty the band would become w/o Dave. That (along with the uber shittyness of When it's love, dreams, et al.) explains the drop off in sales for 0u812.

I know, so why even bother start a topic like this?

Are you the Jero that used to have a Dave website?
