Well, true enough to a point...

But, it was Sam who approached Dave about doing the tour and said all those things like "Now I can see how they (Ed & Al) were lying about Dave all those years" and how they had a kinship and had both been sh*t on by Eddie, etc.

Sam's opinion is for sale and always has been.

Not so with Roth. At least, not anywhere remotely close to that degree.

maybe i just am too deep in the niave pool but i remember them saying that but not saying that once the tour starts. I remember reading that stuff with Sammy but like a month in I remember the crap starting again...and both were talking a bunch of crap on that AWFUL VH1 special about their tour that made both of them look bad. Was there any performance footage on that show, i cant remember but i want to say there wasnt

i think at this point in the game both are pretty much for sale. I think DLR jumps at the chance to front VH again just like Hagar did

RogueHorseman, just asking a question. It's funny how defensive you become over a simple question. The fact is, without Sammy, ole Diamond couldn't have dreamed about a tour. He would still be making tripped out videos and playing casino lounges. I know his guitarist on the Sam and Diamond tour, he had some VERY kind words about our beloved Diamond Dave. Did you see that tour? At least Sammy still has something for sale. The fact is, nobody but the few thousand in the ARMY wants to buy what DLR is selling. Diamond has a few strands of hair, some-what of a voice, leather and glitter wardrobe, and the fortune that he can hold onto some of the best music ever made. Nothing new and original. Other than that, he's nothing more than an old, out-dated rock star getting support from his number of loyal fans that can only support him on the internet. That pisses me off to bring a little reality into this conversation, especially when I think old VH is one of the best ever. But it is thinking like this that keeps our DLR where he is. I hope he invested well and planned for the future because I see him playing at your local Indian Casino opening up for CCR. Man, I hate this. I was ready to defend old VH until I get crap like this over a simple question.

Fusdog~ I'd really like to know what your connection is with Brian Young? I am also somewhat of a frind of his and I am wondering if you are someone I know? Let's face facts... Neither Sam or Dave solo
compare to what they are with Van Halen. BOTH of them hold on to what they did with VH because it was the best music they made in their careers but the fact the seperates the two is this... The ROTH era beats the HELL outta the Sammy era no question about it.

Of course...they would never do that...because when the Roth version outsold the Hagar version 3-1...well...Eddie wouldn't look all that good now would he...
    Couldn't agree more, well said!

If they had put anything remotely unreleased from Dave on this BOBW I would have bought it. But I am not buying something that in some instances I have already bought four times and that has the other guy singing over half the songs. Most greatest hits albums are pretty lame, and this one is no exception.

Question: If Rod Stewart can put out a box set including his songs from previous bands before he went solo, why can't or why won't Dave?

Dave doesn't own the rights to CVH stuff so he cannot

include it on a best of.
