    Roth fans outnumber Hagar fans

So many more people wanted Roth back in VH instead of that fat fuck Hagar. Roth fans outnumber Hagar fans that's for sure and quite obvious. Anyone who doesn't realize this is sadly mistaken and just can't deal with the facts.

    But, what are the percentages?

Not one of my friends, relatives, associates, etc... etc... want/wanted Hagar in VH.

What's it like for you guys?

I say 75% of VH fans dig the Roth era more.

I say it's more like 100% of people who like Van Halen. Not that other version that they masquerade around with the same name.

Have been playing guitar for closing in on 25 years. Have met a lot of musicians and non-musician fans in general over that time.

Not like polled everyone I met, but have as yet to meet one.....ONE.....single person who preferred Van Hagar over Van Halen. When classic Halen was around, you got a lot of fans back then who said, "Roth isn't a good singer", or "Roth is too arrogant", etc. After a couple of years of Van Hagar, those same people were saying Van Halen without Roth/with Hagar sucked.

Think what you got with Van Hagar's fan base are a number of guitar players who thought Eddie was a genius back in the day and haven't been able to let go of those days or are willing to admit Ed peaked years ago, a certain amount of Hagar fans (have as yet to run into anyone who was a Hagar fan either) and a large amount of people who drove shit like Bon Jovi, Winger, Poison and any number of pop-rock power-balladeers to success post-1985.

I would say that for this tour the % of people who wanted dave was a lot higher than people who perfered Van Hagar. I really like both eras, and if i had to choose, it would take a really long time to decide, but i would have much rather had Dave at the helm on this tour. Dave has been out 20 years to sams 8. Dave has been out of the band as long i have been alive. I really think it would be awesome for all the new generation VH fans to see DLR at the front of Van Halen, but i tihnk it would have been better if he would have front in 96, when the hype was going crazy about and DLR VH reunion.

    Look at it this way...

there are truly great bands in this world...and Classic Van Halen is one of them...

Truth be told...you look at both versions...and even the people that insist on lying and saying that Hagar stuff is played on the radio to this day (not nearly as much...and not nearly as much variety)...have to have a gut check here...

Classic VH...the VH that ruled the world...that made us say, "Heaven help us all"...that band is that band that you can talk about in the same breath as Zepp, as Sabbath...as AC/DC...

Yeah...the times played a big part in that...but so did Roth...

there's only ONE Van Halen that rules them all...and they haven't been around...for a long...long time...

here's to the original...the REAL Van Halen...

    Heaven Help us ALL...
"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."

There is an awesome station here in CO, 103.5 the fox, that i listen to all the time, I cant really remember the last time they played a hagar tune before the reunion was announced, even now its back to Classic VH. I dont think anyone can argue that Van Hagar was/is more radio friendly than Van Halen

I always respond the same way when this type of post appears.

If Roth has soooooo many loyal fans then why have they bailed on Dave's solo career?

Since 1994 DLR fans have been nonexistent.

Other than the 5000 people here where are all these people?

Ever heard of the idea of combination? How many records does Glenn Fry sell on his own? None, pretty much. How many people would come to his show? None, pretty much.

How well did Don Henley's recent album do? Crappy, actually. His tour? Lacklustre.

How well are the Eagles doing on the radio and on tour these days? How about they're still giants and always will be.

Any questions? Do I need to spell it out for you? Van Halen with Hagar sells a pretty disappointing amount of tickets and a horrible amount of CDs. It's dated, it's crap...people finally are seeing through it while the classic stuff is finally getting a nice shiny legendary look to it. People look at it as amazing, timeless music. Name me one person that isn't a Chedhead that would call 5150 "timeless music".

Roth may not have much of a solo career right now. But then again, Van Halen is sucking without him. But the original band is still a staple of the hard rock diet...it's classic, legendary music. And if you don't understand that, go fuck yourself.

    'Nuff said.

    Nope.

About the only thing Winger has going for them is consistency.

They sucked in the 80s, the 90s and they still suck today. Just like Van Hagar.

Still doesn't negate the fact that Van Halen without Dave is a lame-ass band.

His tour that followed the release of Inside Job actually did pretty well.
His curent tour is not doing too well.

No questions because I know all.

Your spelling and grammar are already very poor so please don't spell it out you'll only hurt yourself.

VH with Hagar has sold more CDs than DLR solo. Sammy's last 3 studio releases have sold more than Dave's last 3. VH sounds dated? Yes they do but not because of Sammy Vh is locked into that sound and can't breal out of it. The new Sammy songs sound just as dated as the 1996 Dave fronted songs.

The only person truly hurt by the DLR/VH split was Dave.
VH has weathered the storm and sold quite a few CDs with Sammy.
Not as many as they did with Dave but part of that is because of the changing tide in music.
Had Dave stayed with VH their sales would have floundered after 1984 just like they did without him.
Dinosaur rock bands like VH just don't sell CDs anymore.

Listen bitch, point out my spelling and grammar mistakes. Go ahead. In the meantime, what does it mean when you can't "breal" out of something? Do you know what a sentence fragment is? Do you know what it means to use two tenses in the same sentence? How about using two possessives in the same sentence?

Don't grammar police me, you cunt. I know damn well how to write well. You on the other hand could use some help. I'm demoting you to Private Hina.

Look at this bitch's arguing method. She somehow thinks proving the band has sold more than his solo now somehow makes Hagar a superior frontman or something.

She doesn't understand the concept "something is worth more than the sum of its parts." But I suppose her grammar and spelling problems don't make life easy for her. In the end, this all adds up to Private Hina having a very small IQ.

Since 1994 DLR fans have been nonexistent.

Other than the 5000 people here where are all these people?

    Weak shit.

Ignoring the whole 'it's not a popularity contest thing' Hagar solo is a bar band. Hagar with the Van Halen's makes it money on the back of Roth with Van Halen.

My guess is that 80% of people prefer Roth with Van Halen but there are 50% that will tolerate Hagar because they are Ed Heads. The people that prefer Hagar make up a 20% demographic of people that have a childlike taste in music and cite their other favorite bands as Loverboy, Richard Marks and Phil Collins.

In terms of record sales and fans, yes that missing 30% Dave or grave types make up a disproportianate amount of the people that post here.

So what? That's the whole point.

You're talking about people with a passion for music rather than a passion for donuts and easy listening. Oprah fan Delores and her car salesman hubby don't post here? Good.

    Cheers!

LOL. Not a chance you wrote that intentionally. You're not fooling me, idiot. You did a typo after telling me off about my spelling (for which you've not been able to point out one mistake). Then you probably say on the internet for five minutes, trying to find a way to make "breal" work.

Oh, I'm sorry for not knowing German. After all, reading and speaking German is a must for this site, huh? After all, people that don't speak German are "dumb".

    Anyway, you're a private.

Okay if Sammy with VH in 2004 is equal to Richard Marx then DLR with VH in 2004 would be equal to White Lion.

My own experience tells me that more chicks than dudes prefer the Hagar era VH to the DLR era VH. Not surprising they would choose the melodic, toned-down, smoove, lite-version of Van Hagar over the balls-to-the-wall, testosterone driven, phallic shaft driving, unabashed, unadulterated pure hi-octane version of Van Halen that the true connoisseur of the original incarnation of the band the true fans have grown up on and know and love!! At least 70% DLR-era fans, I would venture. To put it in another context, it's like that one buddy of yours that you used to hang out with, go drinking with, hit the titty bars with, play poker with who ended up getting married and is now completely, ultimately, unequivacably pussy-whipped to the extreme! It's always 'Yes, dear' or 'No, dear' and instead of pounding brewskies with you, he has to go with the little woman to the mall, or some party of one of her girlfriends, etc....

VH with Dave is True Rock n' Roll!!!!!!!

Every true rock fan knows that, Sammy with VH is half ass version of the band.

I don't know why the hell Eddie wanted Sammy instead of Dave, if your going to reunite the Band go all the way, don't reunite the half ass version of the band.

Eddie should of stayed in the gave smoking and drinking beer, if he wasn't going to reunite the "REAL" VH.

I disagree that Van Hagar was a half-assed version of the band, i think when sammy hagar came in he had no plans of being anything like Van Halen was before, i think its more correct to say its a completely different band, really the only common thread was that eddie could wail on the songs. To say that its a half assed version would mean that they were trying to emulate the previous version, which is clear they were not by the music they put out, completly different band.

As for the tour, i think the reason they went with Sam was because the opportunity presented its self. They knew they could make a few bucks if they would all suck it up and hit the road for a tour. The reports are coming out now that there is trouble within the band, and I think that just shows that this is something that is not the ideal situation. I also dont think that dave would have been the ideal situation either. I think it would be a battle of egos, Dave has a big one, and so does Ed. They mesh together so well when it comes to music, but they just butt-heads when it comes to everything else. I think that it is too much to ask Ed to swallow his pride and tour with dave, so that is why i dont think we will be seeing a dave VH tour anytime soon

When Dave stepped out on stage with Ed, Mike and Al at the MTV Awards in '96 the people stood up and applauded.

How many standing ovations has Van Hagar recieved? Empty seats don't count.

Sesh made a great point about the Eddie sheep, and they are the one's who wear the wool and turned their backs on Dave.
And i guarentee those fucking sheep would be screaming "I loved Dave most in VH" the day a reunion of the original lineup is announced.

I'll be the first to bitch slap them to the ground.
"I love Van Hagar because i'm an Ed Head" makes you a sheep, now deal with it and go graze my backyard before i gut your ass and make sweaters out of you.

But, 95% of the fans wanted to see Dave back in the band for a reunion. People who are paying the bucks to go see Van Hagar, are going to see Eddie and don't give a shit about Sammy.

Hagar got one HELL of a standing ovation after the Denver show a few weeks back, and from what i am hearing he is getting them all over the country, not that we are counting

Also, Tatu, those two russian lesbians got a standing ovation at the MTV awards, so it must not be too hard to pull
