    DLR music video

I was hoping someone here would be able to help me, I'm a fan of the movie Duel, and I was told by some people that the truck from the movie was painted green, and appeared in a DLR video in the early 90's, it's an older Peterbilt and wouldn't be pulling the tank trailer from the movie. can someone help??

There was a big truck in the "She's My Machine" video that was about to land on some guy. Don't thank me, thank Beavis and Butt-head.

Actually DLRNatra you could be wrong,

if there was a Dave video with a truck involved, Im sure somebody
here has seen it. That Duel film was pretty freaky.. Wasnt it Spielbergs first film ??

I dont immediately recall this Dave/truck video, but Im thinking there might be something from ALAE era ??? (From my beer soaked
    memory cells)

Then again, I might be having a mushroom flashback and am picturing Dave as the Terminator chasing that kid on the motorbike...
(Those mushie flashbacks are freaky at traffic lights man !!)

    Spielberg

Duel was Spielberg's first movie in 71. I tried to contact stunt driver George Sack that owned the truck when it was used in the movie, but haven't gotten a reply yet. He is shown in Terminator 3 driving the truck that cuts the car's roof off. I'm not even sure if it would be a David Lee Roth video, but rumor has it George Sack said it was, but he couldn't remember what song cause he isn't a fan. Thanks for all your help so far, keep me posted if anybody remembers a truck in any video.....

Have no idea about the truck, but in my mind that was Dennis Weaver's best work I've seen.

Great, edge of your seat flick.

Dennis Weaver was pretty awesome in DUEL, having to act scared of the truck, like the weak man. Then seeing him as McCloud, the complete opposite. Definitely some good acting.

A vote for you Duel, and welcome to The Army!

You are right, Weaver played the role to near perfection... especially, when one considers that he essentially had no one opposit him... well, except the truck!

Duel was initally a made-for-TV movie too, which some probably find hard to believe. Outstanding considering the budget limitations of same.

Yeah definitely. Spielberg filmed it all out on location, and originally he was supposed to be doing it on a sound stage, but stayed on schedule enough with filming where he could film it all out on the roads. Too bad one of the trucks had to die in the end. I'm completely obsessed with the movie (for the truck of course) to the point where I paid 87 dollars for the unreleased DVD over a year ago. If you ever see the movie again, when he walks past the rattle snakes and is in the phone booth, look in the glass for Spielberg to be looking back at you.... lol

Ahhhh, never knew that cool tidbit.

    Oversight?

Or, shades of Hitchcock leaving his mark?

it was more of a mistake, Dennis was in the phone booth the whole time, Spielberg was reading over the script, the truck came and Dennis ran from the booth and the truck ran it over, by the time they noticed the reflection it was too late to go out and do it again. There's so many mistakes they made, like having the car going up hill in neutral, just random things like that. http://members.tripod.com/~webzapper/duel.html

that's the best website for the movie I've seen, and just about the only one. If you look at the trivia section, you'll see a lot of "credit:bill" that would be me

Great stuff, thanks for the link.

I think my favorite scene, the whole sequence actually, is when he stops at Chuck's Cafe... they really captured the surreal quality of Mann facing his fears. Weaver was brilliant here.

I think that is the core of the film, really... the "everyman" underdog facing his fears head on, overcoming the greatest of odds and seeing him triumph in the end.

I'm going to have to find a copy of Duel, and watch it again soon!

The part I like most about Chuck's Cafe is that he sees everyone in there as a suspect, and doesn't know what to do and slaps the sandwich out of the guy's hand. the Duel DVD can be bought on ebay now, it's supposed to be released by now or by the end of the month, just an idea. They did a good job of playing his thoughts back to him while he's sitting there all by himself in the Cafe so he could react to his own thoughts. still too bad they wrecked the truck!
