    Well...like I said many...many times...

Many people felt that Zwick had the best arm...and that Smith was the better quarterback...in a Krenzel kind of mode...

    we'll see...

Ginn Jr. and Holmes are the real deal...but OSU needs a fucking running game...and some damn lineman...

their recruiting class for next year already looks stellar...and if they can nab 2 or 3 more top 50 guys...it will be the best in the country...

They are getting shunned by RB's so far...but the top five on their list are all good ones...and it includes a Clarett clone...who is the #1 RB in the country...

he's a west coast guy however...but HE expressed an interest in OSU...

I don't see that as a reality these days rbw...but if Tressel can keep getting the top Ohio recruits...it could happen...he keeps stealing away some players from Fla....and is now looking to the West Coast...so who knows...if he keeps getting the skill positions...OSU will be up there every year...

they have another stud qb coming in as well...

Clarett claims cash, cars among benefits

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Tom Friend and Ryan Hockensmith
    ESPN The Magazine

Ending six months of silence, former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett has told ESPN The Magazine in this week's edition that he "took the fall" for the school during a 2003 NCAA investigation and that he's talking now because he wants to "clear his name" with National Football League owners and general managers.

Clarett says that while he was at Ohio State in 2002 and 2003 head coach Jim Tressel, as well as certain members of his staff and boosters, provided him with improper benefits. He says he covered up Tressel's improprieties during the NCAA investigation and afterward, Ohio State "blackballed'' him from the football program.

According to Clarett, Tressel arranged loaner cars for him and Tressel's brother, Dick, found him lucrative landscaping jobs that he did not even have to show up for. He says members of Tressel's staff also introduced him to boosters who'd slip him thousands of dollars, and the better he played, the more cash he'd receive. He says boosters eventually began inviting him into their homes or would meet him out in the community

"When you'd leave, [the booster] sets you straight," Clarett told The Magazine. "They say, 'You got any money in your pocket?' They make sure your money's straight."

Clarett also says he likely would have been ineligible for Ohio State's national title season of 2002 if the football staff had not "aligned'' him with an academic advisor whose goal was simply to keep him eligible. He says the academic advisor enrolled him in Independent Study courses and also put him with hand-picked teachers who would pass him whether he attended their classes or not. He says his advisor also introduced him to a tutor who prepared outlines and told him what to write for assignments.

Another former Ohio State player, linebacker Marco Cooper (2000-01; Spring 2002), corroborated many of Clarett's comments. Cooper, who was suspended from the team following two arrests for drug possession, says he also had bogus landscaping jobs, that a booster helped furnish his apartment, and that he was able to borrow cars from local Columbus dealerships in exchange for signed OSU memorabilia.

Another former Buckeyes player, current Maryland running back Sammy Maldonado, says he was placed in so many courses that did not put him on the road to graduation that only 17 of a possible 40 credits earned would transfer to his new school.

Ohio State officials have declined to comment on many of the allegations. School President Karen Holbrook, Jim Tressel and Dick Tressel refused to respond through spokespersons, while Athletic Director Andy Geiger said he would not answer questions until after the magazine story appeared, if then.

"We went through a yearlong investigation of our academic programs, everything that [Clarett] has to allege,'' Geiger said. "He vowed to me that he would do something to try to get us and this may be what he's trying to do. So he's on his own.

"We dealt with this guy [Clarett] for 18 months. I just hope you've checked into the background and history of who you're dealing with.''

Clarett's former academic advisor and tutor also declined comment. The NCAA, which investigated Clarett for potential academic and financial irregularities in the summer of 2003, said it is against its policy to discuss the Clarett case.

Clarett, 21, who gained 1,237 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in 2002, his only collegiate season, says he was asked during the 2003 NCAA investigation whether he received a loaner car from Tressel, and, to protect the coach, he says, he answered no. He says when he was asked about other indiscretions, he answered, "I don't know" or "I don't remember," which was a violation of NCAA Rule 10.1, requiring forthright answers.

"What would have become of Ohio State if I said everything?'' Clarett told The Magazine. "Half the team would have been suspended, and it would have been worse for everybody. I was like, 'Why don't I just take it?'"

The school suspended him for the entire 2003 season, and when Clarett asked to be reinstated for 2004, he says the athletic department systematically "blackballed him" by taking away the teachers and tutors.

Clarett then tried applying for the 2004 NFL Draft, and was first ruled eligible and then ineligible, because he wasn't the requisite three years removed from high school. He says he was "depressed" by the court's ultimate decision to ban him, but is now working out in anticipation of the 2005 draft in April. He says he is hoping this winter to play in this winter's East-West Shrine game and the Senior Bowl, all-star invitationals that would be his first football games in two years.

Several pro executives say, as of now, the running back could go as low as the fourth or fifth round. Clarett contends he will change any negative perceptions at the NFL combine in February.

"I'm thinking, 'NFL GMs know college players take money,' " Clarett says. "It was nothing like I stole something. Nothing like I'm running from the law or I'm dragging a girl down the stairs. No domestic violence. No nothing. [But] I got to clear myself up now, because it's affecting the minds of the GMs."

I dont believe any of the story either..
think about it, how can a coach have a hook up car
dealer that soon? what his 1st year there? NO WAY.
Tressell didnt market himself to the columbus public that quickly.
Clarrets out his mind thinking this shit up.

Maurice is doing everything he can, kick whine, & squirm
to bring someone else down with him.
what a complete piece of shit.
i hope the NFL does blackball him, hes more than a
    punk to me now.

    lol ... oh ... S ... PEW ....

    It is on.

Northwestern had us working on plays for the film room, looking forward to the game with the Buckeyes. When the time came, the defense shut them down, and the offense came alive.

Just looking at common opponents ... and Michigan wanting to capitalize after Wisconsin loses ...

You know it's GO BLUE bro ... but I understand the attitude though ...

It's the best part of college sports.

UNDERCOVER FAN: OSU punks rip into U-M rivals

Buckeye band the Dead Schembechlers makes fun of coaching legend, his team
    November 19, 2004

    The Undercover Fan

The University of Michigan plays the Ohio State University on Saturday for the 101st time in what many consider to be the country's best college football rivalry. But it's not much of a rivalry.

Michigan has never won. That's right, they've lost 100 straight games.

And for all those who believe that U-M won just last year, 35-21 in Ann Arbor, well, said the frontman for Columbus punk rock band the Dead Schembechlers: "They are dupes, suckers who've been tricked by the 'Wolverine liberal media.' "

In fact, the man who calls himself Bo Biafra believes many of the nation's problems can be traced to the prissy campus in Ann Arbor.

"Did you know that the massive changes in our country's weather patterns can be traced back to the time when Apollo 15 was in the air?" Biafra said. "Did you know who made up the crew? That's right, three alumni from the University of Michigan!"

Biafra thinks all evil arises from the leafy little lefty enclave on the outskirts of metro Detroit. He thinks U-M girls are questionable, U-M boys are morons, and former coaching legend Bo Schembechler is the ultimate traitor.

So he formed a punk band, borrowing heavily from the Ramones and the Dead Kennedys, to alert the world of the danger to the north, and to mock Schembechler, still the face of Michigan football in Columbus.

Biafra and fellow members Bo Thunders, Bo Vicious and Bo Scabies dress in white short-sleeve shirts and thin black ties and black pants and black baseball caps with OSU logos in homage to their hero, former OSU coach Woody Hayes. They wrote songs titled, "I Hate Michigan," "Bo for 24" "M Means Moron" and "Michigan Stadium is a Pile of #*&@."

Tonight, for the first time, they are headlining the annual Hate Michigan Rally at a rock club in Columbus. To prepare for the rally, Biafra said he spent the week in Washington, D.C., lobbying Secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice.

"Now that wimpy Colin Powell is out, we figured we could convince Rice to launch a thermonuclear attack on Ann Arbor," he said. "It may hurt President Bush's standing in Michigan, but hey, the election is over."

Biafra earns a living in music, but not with the Schembechlers. He wouldn't say how. Depending on his mood, he is in his mid-30s, or maybe late 30s. He grew up in an Ohio State family in Columbus and may have actually attended the university. Or maybe not. He remembers people from his childhood with U-M leanings.

"But I don't remember much about them," he said. "They disappeared under mysterious circumstances."

He describes the Dead Schembechlers' musical style as Wolverine hate core, laced with lyrics dedicated to the demise of the team and whose roots can be found in psychotic punk rock.

In a week when current U-M coach Lloyd Carr bemoaned the dark side of the rivalry, Biafra and company are turning it up, with a wink.

"They have a sense of humor," said Chris Painter, arts editor of the Other Paper, an alternative weekly in Columbus. "They are actually good musicians."

Biafra said he was moved to form the group after legendary coach Hayes appeared in his dreams.

"He arose from a golden light, whispered in my ear, and told me to do it," Biafra said. "He also told me to rent the movie 'Midway.' "

Hayes was a military history buff.

Biafra figured the band was payback to Schembechler, who played for Hayes at Miami of Ohio in the early 1950s and later coached under Hayes at Ohio State. In Buckeyeland, no one has forgotten how he left for hated Michigan.

The real Bo, by the way, could not be reached to comment on the band named after him, though he has often joked himself about some of the exuberant fans in Ohio's capital city.

Biafra expects millions tonight at his gig and wouldn't be surprised to find Wolverine spies, sent down on mind-control drugs to gather information for headquarters back in Ann Arbor, in search of ways to quash the rebellion.

"They want total world domination," Biafra said. "They are so jealous of life in Columbus. They are like citizens under the old Soviet Union."

Biafra predicts another Ohio State victory Saturday.

"We will march on a road of Wolverine bones, and that when the final gun sounds, the Dead Schembechlers will gnaw coach Carr's skull, 76-0."

When the game is over, and the delirious horde of scarlet and silver prepare to burn the streets, Biafra and his mates plan to head up to Akron for a post-victory vacation.

"It's the international hotspot of the world," he said. "Best nightlife anywhere."

From the lobby of Motel 6, the Dead Schembechlers will holler into the night, arguing with any spies who dare suggest Michigan actually leads the series, 57-37-6.

Same for me this morning. Hauled gnads to the store and back in time. The family is on the "please don't talk to me unless I talk to you first" rule.

    lol ... I'll admit ... I laughed at "WolverQueens".

    OSU's defense just can't compete with the line...the receivers...or the back...this year...

    if we win...it's a miracle...

    if we lose...it's expected...

I really fucking can't believe this game isn't on here...I'm in utter disbelief...

All indications are that he will.

    Holtz will step down, retire.

14-14 now , 99 yard drive. QB sneak.

    Michigan forced to punt.

OSU gonna keep this thing close.

    OSU at UM's 2

    First and Goal.

Taking the lead here, Michigan is going to blow this game.

I can't believe this QB is tearing us up.

I'm guessing OSU is opening up the offense a bit more than normal...maybe Tressel will open up his eyes...

how does Smith look at QB?...

and that freshman Ginn Jr....I remember when they were recruiting him...they almost stopped because they figured he'd leave early...or try and go the Clarett route...and leave after a year or two...has he scored yet?

Troy Smith was #1 out of Ohio 2 years ago...

but Zwick was the #1 in the country coming out...

most people in Ohio though Smith was better...but was overshadowed by 1 Maurice Clarett...who was Smith's starting tailback...

    He is playing well.

    Leading rusher, 6-8 throwing it.

Michigan stuffed them twice ... pass comploete, but not in the end zone ...

    Going for it on 4th.

Tressel said he had 2 goals when he came...

    1. Beat Michigan...

    2. Win National Titles...

I'm not surprised if he goes for it...
