You have so much potential, if you can only get a grip on the drug addiction.
Hopefully your mark on society won't be a blood stain in the middle of the street, like that dead THUG CRIMINAL left as his legacy.Comment

You tell us, Von. Because both cases are potential police overreach and overreaction. If the white kid was murdered by police, then the cop should go to jail irregardless of color...
That doesn't change the fact that a NYPD Officer choked and tortured killed Garner on the pavement with an illegal choke hold he was supposedly barred from using, ruled a homicide, and he gets off. What's the precedent of that? Cops can now just shoot people in deaths ruled "homicides" and get off when grand juries decide not to indict them?Comment

Over 50% of witnesses said he put his hands up after being initially shot...Comment

There are a number of reasons for the incarceration stats but a big one has been around drugs. White and black people have the same rate of marijuana usage but black people are nearly 4 times as likely to be arrested for possession. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 created a 100 to 1 sentencing disparity for crack vs. powder cocaine when it's basically the same stuff.
African-Americans, who only comprised 13% of regular drug users, made up for 35% of drug arrests, 55% of convictions, and 74% of people sent to prison for drug possession crimes. Nationwide African-Americans were sent to state prisons for drug offenses 13 times more often than white men, even though they only comprise 13% of regular drug users.

I totally agree about the drug stuff Sesh. Our prisons are currently housing a lot of guys that probably shouldn't be there, because of the fucked up drug laws, and the disparity in who goes to jail, and who doesn't.
The reason the black dudes are only 13% of the drug users, but 35% of the arrests, is because they are the ones selling the shit to the white drug addicts like Kristy! Big difference between using drugs, and selling them, Sesh.Comment
