What do you guys expect? Guns N roses fans haven't heard music since 1991 except for the god awful "oh my god" on the end of days soundtrack. Don't try to fool yourself it is fuckin GNR, they just replaced Axl with Scott which was a great decision.

Well, there's some truth in that, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them GNF'nR w/ Weiland at the helm, nor would I even call them "Guns N' Pilots." You're forgeting the key element to the old band's rawness: Izzy. He was their brains, their best songwriter, and also had the ability to bring out Slash's best playing. I love Gilby to death, but things went to shit in a hurry after Izzy left. I know Izzy turned down a position in the band, but it's also been said that he lead his songwriting skills to VR for a few songs. Looks like Weiland wasn't too keen on his style and ditched his contributions considering I hardly hear anything Stradlin-esque on the entire album.

If you've actually listened to "Contraband", you'd know that while many of the songs find their roots in the member's former bands, it has a unique sound. Of course you still have the standard "Use Your Illusion" setup(hard song here, ballad there), but the styling of them and their very execution is different (maybe more mature?) than anything you'd hear from the previous bands. This isn't the 2nd coming of either band, although it probably is for its members anyway. VR is its own force.

Regardless, VR is still a band with plenty of the "fuck you" that's so seldom seen these days. The people obviously are wise to this fact considering how popular "Slither" has become. Some of the fans are ex-gunners or STP fans like myself, while a good deal of others just see that unique element to them. Either way, I have the feeling that they'll have quite a following under their belt before too long.

So once again, considering that the "New and Improved" GNR SUCKS, "It's About Time for Another McNugget" is a god-awful mess, and a good 75% or more of everything else out there lacks any soul, I'm not really surprised that Slither has come out on top. God Bless.

For anyone in Europe, you'll also get the bonus track "Bodies" on your copy. Lucky...although I've heard if you preorder it from Best Buy they'll let you download the track from their site. I love how we always get ripped off.

I was listening to KATT (OKC rock station) yesterday, and they actually played "It's About Time" as a "Smash or Trash" song.

Smash or Trash is something the station usually applies to new music from new, unheard of bands. They play the song, and the listeners vote on whether to add it to the playlist, or shit can it. I didn't catch the result, but I don't think it matters. Just being on the "Smash or Trash" list is pathetic for Van Halen... Oh yeah, it's Van Hagar... Nevermind.

Anyway, just figured I'd share my experience on the success of the "New" Van Halen. I guess the Hagar fans can try to polish this turd all they want, and tell themselves how great the band's doing... But I can personally attest to the fact that the new song gets absolutely no airtime on the 4 rock stations here, and the song's considered so bad that the one station put it up to the listeners to shit can it.

Say what you will, but this would never ever happen with Dave at the helm.

According to Undercover News, five of VAN HALEN's albums earned an extra platinum award in May — possibly as a result of an increased interest in the band following the announcement of the group's upcoming reunion tour. Albums that are said to have benefited from the renewed interest in the group include "5150", "OU812", "Van Halen II", "Balance" and "The Best of Van Halen Volume 1".

VAN HALEN have sold 34 million albums with singer David Lee Roth, 16 million with Sammy Hagar and less than a million with Gary Cherone.

"The Best of..." album has sold three million and the live album, "Right Here Right Now", has sold two million copies in the U.S.

In total, the VAN HALEN catalogue has now turned over more than 55 million units in the U.S. alone.

                              gslinger says….And you point is?????

                              1. First of all the numbers are typical infomercial bullshit trying to pump dying VH Tour ticket sales, which I/we watch closely. You think Billboard isn’t anything more than a mouthpiece whore for the music industry..pleaseeeeeeee

                              2. Second, let’s say it 100% accurate. So what! WMG picks ups a couple of million on bogus marketed VH album sales, and CCC/WMG loses $10-$15 million on this Tour going in the dumper. Real successful business venture, dahhhhhh

                              3. Third, as I have stated several times on this forum, let’s be very clear as to why Eddie and many other performers that WMG owns their “back catalog” are doing these 2004 “appeared out of thin air” ReHash Tours. EVH and other performers are trying to raise cash FAST to tender on their WMG “back catalog”. WMG sold out to a venture capital group recently, and the clown that runs it is a total scumbag, sell his sister for a dime, loser. Eddie & Alex don’t want VH songs being used as backing-tracks to sell Corn Flakes, diapers, and everything else under the sun because the leverage buyout left the new owners with massive debt they have to pay down.

THIS IS THE ONLY REASON THAT SAMMY AND ALEX GOT TOGETHER AND HAD THEIR FIRST DISCUSSION. IT’S THE ONLY REASON FOR THIS TOUR. EDDIE JUMPED TO USE SAMMY’S MANAGER ON THIS “BACK CATALOG PROBLEM”, TOUR, ETC. BECAUSE VH DIDN’T HAVE ANY MANAGEMENT INFRASTRUCTURE OR A RECORD LABEL WHEN THIS DEAL GOT WHIPPED UP BASICALLY OVER NIGHT. EDDIE HAD LET IT ALL GO WHILE HE WAS DROWNING HIMSELF IN THE BOOZE AND DRUGS THE LAST 5 YEARS.

The Van Halen’s couldn’t call Dave to front this reunion Tour, because Dave was already on their arse about screwing him out of back royalties which included them redoing their deal with WMG without Dave’s consent. Dave wrote a lot of the VH six pack material. He never signed away his rights on any of that material and the Van Halen’s know it!.

The Van Halen’s also know that CCC/WMG control this Tour. They can “can” Spammy today, give Dave a cool $million to front this Tour and keep CCC/WMG from losing $10 of millions on this thing going in the dumper. Eddie & Alex cannot do squat about it and it scares the hell out of the lying dutchman!!.

Just counting down the days when Diamond Dave gets that $1 million phone call from CCC/WMG. I can hear Diamond now when he gets the mercy/bailout call - ……..wellllllll I'm kinda of business. Trixie's here and I gotta go out and check the air in my big wide whitewalls on my ‘51 Merc, ….....can I call you back laterrrrrrrrr!

VH #3 Pollstar ranking is a CCC Scam! Profile Pm Email www Search Buddy IP

Van Halen jumps up to #3 on Pollstar.com

I saw this ignorant tool General Hina’s post, and the huge number of member reply posts on this subject, so I wanted to present the true facts in this matter.

Please, everybody quit busting a gut on this PollStar report and what Hina and other transtestical’s like “it” posts. Nobody knowledge in the music industry, looks at, or recognizes, Pollstar’s Power Index rankings. There worthless! A fifth grader could manipulate the hell out of those numbers, much less someone as powerful as CCC & WMG. Further, trust me CCC IS CLEARLY manipulating the hell out of this ignorant power ranking report using the oldest promoter tricks in the book.

I know for an iron-clad fact, suck Hagar’s cock if I am wrong on the internet for everyone to see, that this VH Tour is in big trouble and CCC is on the ropes, trying everything they can to salvage this deal. I have posted other matters reflecting how this VH Tour is in trouble, and I’m not a Sammy hater or really want to see this Tour fail. The latest VH tickets “auction sale trick” that appeared out of thin air yesterday on Ticketbastard (and disappeared late today?!) was just another fine example of very serious sales problems with this VH Tour.

Bottom line here is nobody thought that Eddie would not “shape up” and “kick in” for this Tour. I didn’t either, the guy has always been such a driving musical force and a perfectionist, to a fault many times. Frankly, if I didn’t like Roth, I wouldn’t care if Meatloaf was fronting this VH Tour, as long as I got to see Eddie blister the stage. But in watching a full private video of Tuesday’s nights VH Dress Rehearsal, EVH is a disappointing musical and emotional mess! Not saying he didn’t have a few good moments and a few cool “showcase riffs”, but the rest of it was rough to put it mildly. I was elated, however, to finally get to see Wolfgang on stage in the video, even though he is only 13. But deep down, I got very pissed that Eddie was pimping his son “for a buck”, because he had let himself become a washed up hack.

I guess people can only hope that when Eddie gets out on the road, and sees that millions of people still care about him (and I am still one of them) he will “kick in”, but I’m not holding my breath here. Usually when addicts get as bad as Eddie, long-term rehab is the only answer, short of a grave.

I also learned late this afternoon, exactly what is going on with all these new VH Tour dates being scheduled, yet CCC is getting killed by lack of adequate ticket sales volume on existing scheduled VH play dates - except select A+ venue markets. We all know that VH is performing effectively “fixed fee” venues for this Tour, so they could care less about ticket sales volumes. The more shows they play, the more money they make. However, CCC makes the decisions to book additional VH venue dates, NOT VH Management. So obviously, the question is what the hell are they thinking?

Apparently, CCC’s thinking is that by opening additional VH play dates, many in secondary venue markets, they can keep the alive the hype/fan excitement/”all is well with the Tour look”/and rigged VH poll rankings, like in PollStar, etc. They are hoping this “business strategy” will assist in “backfilling” lagging sales in major key market venues, that are extremely expensive to promote, and can generate significant single venue losses for CCC . If this sales “backfill” strategy works, then CCC will cancel some secondary market VH concerts. If the backfill doesn’t occur, they will cancel numerous secondary markets, and second night, VH concerts to rebalance their promote book.

Hope this information was of value to serious forum members……."
