Take a bite from the big apple. Don’t mind the maggots. Shit. What kind of songs are going to be inspired by today’s Times Square?
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

        Welcome to New York City!
The last moment of flavor I remember in NYC was in 2004. I was walking past a Marvel Comics shop near Times Square and outside there was a dude in a movie-quality Spiderman suit who would pose for pictures with passerby. I got my picture taken with him, both of us doing the webshooting thing with our hands. It was part of a promotion the store was having for whatever Spiderman thing was being released at the time, and the dude in the suit was clearly physically fit. I liked Spiderman since I was a kid, yada yada.

A block away, we rounded the corner and there was a hobo dressed in what looked to be Spiderman pajamas...Spiderman Underoos...but they were a size or two too small and his bloated vagrant belly was clearly visible, protruding from the bottom of the shirt. His red pajama bottoms had what I'm assuming were piss stains on them and he was yelling about the end of the world approaching while simultaneously panhandling for change. About 99% of the passersby were pretending he wasn't there.

THAT to me was the essence of NYC.

          Probably an Applebee's commercial jingle.

I'm still a bit surprised at just how low he has ended up. There are rumors of substance dependence which I think are very very likely.

The older I get the more convinced I become that so many of these people who have political power or who seek it are so often the last people who should have it.

I'm not saying 'they are all the same' that is dumb and frustrating when people take that attitude there are always shades of grey obviously.

The people with the big bucks like to sponsor flawed people for political office. They are easy to control with money and blackmail. Useful idiots.
