What WILL mess with the tone - is the bridge pickup sitting practically on top of the bridge. THAT... could be a huge problem (trust me on this, BM - been there). YMMV, but you may find once you've reassembled and played it for a while you'll want to back that up a bit. There's a fine line between "closer to the bridge for added bite" ala an angled Strat pickup, and "icepick".

Thanks jhale!!!! I'm learning with baby steps.
I want to make the entire body again soon.
I bought Mighty Mite MFG Humbucker from 1970/80s.
Now I'm gonna do the killswitch..LOL i had the spst NO..need NC.UPS guy just delivered it.
    roth on happy weekend!!

I'm hoping the weight of the Moon will offset the lack of a block.

My other non brass block guitar that I use is an Ibanez RGT3170 straight through with a mahogany body as well with a Dimarzio Tone Zone and it holds it's own tone wise.

I may yet just get a block for it as they do Edge ones as well. It's a really nice guitar and not cheap but I'm still not completely convinced with it as I find it a little bit less easy to play than I would hope.

      awsome paint job shesh

It's maybe just me, the neck feels a bit chunky for me. I'm not sure what the problem is and it's maybe just personal although they didn't make them for long. It's a top quality guitar that looks good, stays in tune and sounds great but...

I think I may sell it at some point.

Again like almost all my guitars I found it second hand and they are rare enough only ever sold in Japan. I really pushed the boat out on it and it's the most I've ever paid for a guitar but I have a little bit of buyers regret if I'm honest. I think it's still worth at least what I paid for it though which is more than you can say for most things...

I think with that particular guitar the binding on the neck would annoy me. YMMV. If you like the guitar itself but dislike the neck, why not just replace that? You can get JEM copy necks with the wizard profile easily. You could make the guitar feel and play more like the other one you like, or order one to the specs you think you'd like better than either of them...

If that guitar is from a well respected builder I wouldn't change anything and just sell it and get what you like to play. If you don't dig it, you don't dig it.

It's not a bolt on neck.

The RGT3170 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2003. It is part of the high-end Prestige line. The RGT3170 features neck-through construction with mahogany wings with flamed maple top attached to a maple neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with off-set dot inlays. Components two DiMarzio humbucking pickups flanking a DiMarzio single coil pickup, a double locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut. The RGT3120 is similar but omits the middle pickup.

My next project will be like this..but start with steinberger shape..later add the horns.
I remember the sound of my walnut guitar without amp was just like this video.
                            Really nice wood.
