On one level, it IS kinda sad...but when Roth got back with the band several years back...even though the first go-around was just an oldies tour, no new music, Mike wasn't there, Eddie was erratic and Wolfgang looked out of place...even in spite of all the shortcomings, just the fact that Roth was back onstage with the Van Halens...it WAS a bit like the interview Roth gave in the early 1990s when he stated that if he got back together with Van Halen even for a quickie it would be as if the years Hagar was in the band never existed.

Shit, it was that way for me in 1996, as much of a debacle as THAT was...even those two Van Hagar leftovers with Roth singing over them...it was as if Sam Hagar being in Van Halen was just some sort of vague nightmare that I could, at best, half remember.


Now, with the band firing on all points - a strong new album and a tour - it just erases that much more of the shite years when Sammy was in the band and Van Hagar were serving up crapburgers from my memory banks.
