Joe Strummer even makes the list (much less being #16)?

That ranking really sucks. Mixing Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and DLR with cold fish like the Smiths or Radiodickhead is like comparing the best vintage wines in the world with instant soup.

I've seen him twice with the Stooges, once in Alsace in August 2005 (in the middle of the Wine Festival), he was awesome: he sang one verse and one chorus of "Loose" and in the next second he was already diving in. Second time was in 2011 at the Paleo Festival near Geneva with James Williamson back on guitar after Ron Asheton's death, but it wasn't as wild as in Colmar, Alsace.
Anyway, I'd put him in the top 3 up there with Mercury and Dave.

Gotta agree with Freddie getting the number one spot. Greatest front man that ever lived.

Like him or not, Cobain changed the face of music. He wasn't really that great of a "frontman" though...

David Lee Roth is 17th in 50 Finest Frontmen & Women List in rock history.

I know it's not about lyrics but any mention of the genius of Morrison does remind me of this.

"there's a killer on the road/his brain is squirming like a toad". Do you think that if "toad" and "road" didn't rhyme, Jim Morrison would be sitting there, saying "damn! I have this vision in my head of a madman with the contents of his brain jumping around like something tailless and amphibious. I sure wished "thoroughfare" rhymed with "bufa vulgaris!"

I just scrolled through this entire thread and couldn't believe Ian Gillan was not mentioned until your post. One of my all time favorite singers.
