The ironic thing about that misinformed statement, is that GNR are big Misfits fans themselves....

Big deal. I'm sure The Beatles were/are fans of bands they were way more popular than too.

Yeah that's odd. But down here all the kids were listening to this stuff and it just drove me nuts. It's all the same song over and over and I just never got into the whole weirdo looking scene. Ah, everybody's different. It would be kinda boring if we all liked the same thing.

            Not really....

Back when The Beatles were recording a lot of covers, most of them were pretty big names at the time (Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers, etc.) Over 50 years later you can certainly say The Beatles were bigger than any of them, but that wasn't really what John & Paul were thinking when they were trying their best to replicate the vocal harmonies on songs like this....

That doesn't mean they weren't fans of other bands they chose not to cover as well. As far as I know The Beatles never covered any songs of their contemporaries.

No but by "contemporaries" I meant musicians who were recording music in the same genre as well as time period. Songs from bands recording the same type of music around the same time as the Beatles. The Stones, The Who, The Kinks, etc. Most of the songs they covered were from early rockers like Chuck Berry and a handful of songs by Motown artists.
