Slideshow: Dick Clark remembered
Famed television personality Dick Clark died of a heart attack Tuesday morning in Los Angeles, his spokesman confirms. Clark was 82.
Clark is best known for hosting long-running television shows such as "American Bandstand," the game show "Pyramid" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."
Clark had been in St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif. after undergoing an outpatient procedure Tuesday night. He suffered the heart attack following the procedure and that attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Clark is survived by his wife, Kari, and his three children.

There's a video I want to post, because it's just one of the most bizarre moments in tv preformance history..but I'll leave that to el-ford-o.
RIP Dick

The good thing is that he won't have to put up with Ryan Seacrest's bullshit anymore.
Yeah. Good dude. American Icon. As a little kid I loved American Bandstand. Fun television. Now we get Seacrest which is no comparison whatsoever. But to his credit, he fully respects & honors the guys that paved the way for him.
If there's a Heaven & they celebrate New Years Eve, I know who will be hosting the party.
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
I think they still called him "America's Oldest Teenager" right up until he had that stroke. Actually surprised he lasted as long as he did after that.
One of my all time favorite Bandstand moments......

And let's not forget the Pyramid! Probably holds the record in my lifetime for the most times I've screamed "dumb ass" at a tv game show in 30 minutes!
He contributed to so much of our collective childhoods!!

So break out the bug spray, and do us all a favor........
Dick saw a lot of musical and cultural changes and helped introduce some of the most famous bands in rock and roll history. The man was a rock and roll legend for so many decades. RIP Dick Clark.
Notice the unplugged guitars on Bandstand. Jack Casady said when the Jefferson Airplane were told to lip sync their songs he was insulted because it was basically saying, we don't trust you can play your instruments well enough. In protest Jack wrapped his guitar cable all around himself to make it obvious he was unplugged to show how fake Bandstand was. LOL!
Damn, I'd actually forgot about Slade being on American Bandstand... playing the only two hits they ever had in the US (well not actually playing them, because nobody actually played anything on this show.....)
And another one from the teenage masturbation files here.....
Devo were pioneers. We were going into the 80's and there was going to be some interesting synthesized geek rock coming down the pike. It was good stuff. The whip it video was very much at the forefront of the whole 80's music video thing. It was an interesting decade. A lot was going on. A lot of technology was becoming available to the average consumer that didn't exist before and it was really reflected in the geek rock bit.
No shit. Music was changing so fast that it was hard to keep up.
And would you fucking believe... Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd???
I can believe that clip sucked...You can hear a few signature chords, but that song just sucks balls
Time to get a little funky.....
And now for something completely fucking ridiculous........
American Bandstand started in 1959. In those days many considered rock and roll the devils music and the show was controversial. Interesting to see how the fashions, music, dancing, and the social attitudes changed over the years.
Dick Clark was the same age as my mom. He did Bandstand forever and I would see my mom start to age but Dick Clark never looked as old as he really was until he got in his 70's and had a stroke. He aged well.
I used to watch Bandstand a lot when I was a kid... funny but when I think back, the only band who I really remember from their Bandstand appearance is Night Ranger.
RIP Dick Clark.
