And this morning I see there is a All Def Movie Awards, presented by Russell Simmons and hosted by Tony Rock. It'll run against the Oscars.

The All Def Movie Awards?? Where's it being held, in a crack house?? How much you wanna bet their "award" will look a whole lot like this:

I wonder what's in their swag bags they hand out? Rolling papers, a bag of weed, three 40s of Old English, and a jewel covered pimp cup? Which come to think of it...would probably be better than what they give you at the Oscars.

I too haven't bothered to watch the Oscars for the best part of nearly 15 years, but I did watch last year's because of the films that were nominated all enjoyed. (Glad they gave it to BIRDMAN)


I haven't seen THE REVENANT yet - but heard it's visually well done.

SPOTLIGHT was a good drama, and should win the Screenplay award.

Surprised to see Sylvester Stallone being nominated, must've put up a decent enough performance...

Generally, I'm not a gambler - but a local syndicate here has put BRIDGE OF SPIES at 200/1 for the Best Picture award. Now, I certainly don't think it'll win it, but it was a damn good film (of course because it's Spielberg) and not representative of those odds. So, I couldn't help myself putting some dosh down on it purely for the 'just in case' factor...

TRUMBO deserved a nomination for Best Picture and Screenplay, IMHO.

Yeah he was pretty funny. I still find it absolutely laughable to call Hollywood racist. The Oscars? A case can be made for that but the rest of Hollywood? Did Chris Rock forget he gets paid big bucks to play pretend? Wasn't one of the biggest movies of the summer a movie about a bunch of thugs who wrote stupid songs about bitches and whores and cop hatin? Odd, he must have forgotten about that.

I wish I could make a couple million bucks a year and then be ignored by the Oscars. I'd cry on a stack of money and then rip off a couple bills to pay for my high end hooker. And the massive amount of booze I'd be drinking. In a fabulously expensive hotel room. Did I mention there would be hookers?

What is the Academy supposed to do, nominate shit "black" movies like Wayan brothers parody comedies? Or worse, Tyler Perry's Madea movies? I know, they make money, but artistically those movies are garbage.

And yesterday I read about people griping that DiCaprio didn't get nominated for Best Actor for Titanic. I've never seen it, can he really be that good in it?
