The following was clipped from www.miceage.com. Looks like VH will rock riders of the recently rehabbed Space Mountain ride at Disneyland.
It's no secret Matt Ouimet was baffled, and (let's be honest here) more than a little pissed, that the original timeline had Space Mountain reopening in November 2005, a full 30 months after the ride suddenly closed without warning on April 10, 2003. He sent the Imagineering (WDI) project managers back to the drawing boards, almost literally, and bankrolled a new plan to get Space Mountain open as soon as possible. They couldn't make the May 5th kickoff, but the new July 15th opening is better than November. But the second ace up TDA's sleeve would turn up the volume, almost literally, on the Space Mountain marketing plan.
We broke the news here over a year ago about the plan to have two separate soundtracks for Space Mountain; one for daytime and one for night. Originally sold to the TDA execs using the tagline "By day it rockets, by night it rocks!", the new nighttime version of Space Mountain is now called "Rock It Mountain". WDI has already installed the lighting effects and synched up a Van Halen (yes, you heard correctly, Van Halen) soundtrack that will comprise the night version. It's all ready to go, and can be turned on and be up and running with minimal work.
Let's hope they choose tracks from the Diamond Dave era!
From experience, this would really kick ass. I've been on the Rock N' Roller coaster at Disney-MGM more times than I can count, and it's unbelievable with Aerosmith blowing your mind from speakers mounted in the headrest.
Just thought this was kind of cool, so I threw it out there.
