Dave said the house is 10,000 square feet. Looks like he has taken good care of the place. I wonder if that is the beach sand on the tennis court in the upper right hand corner where he filmed the No Holds BBQ? Dave's dad put all that nice green lawn in. That area was all over grown with unkept landscaping. The house was a fixer upper when Dave's dad bought it.
I like the roof-top patio. I could easily see him sitting up there with the flavor of the night, looking at the stars. That's exactly when he wrote:
So what you're sayin' could be true
All the world's a molecule
A little atom, contained within
The thumbprint of a greater being.......Lose the dress, keep the shoes. hahaha...
She asked, "Why keep the shoes?" Dave replies, "Because the slate is cold on your feet honey, now bend over."
First I take my finger
And put it on your skin
Makes a little white mark
And then it turns to red again
So if you're lazy on a Sunday
And you got nothin' to do
And you wanna get a sunburn
Come on up to the roof
I think your nose is peelin'
The sun is hot and clear
The city's fairly steamin'
I can taste your skin from here
So if you're lazy on a Sunday
Any Tuesday'll do
And you wanna get a Sunburn
Come on up to the roof
See, I was up here yesterday
Saw some pigeons on a power line
Looked like notes upon a music paper
I wrote it down
I guess Manhatten
Gets the last line
Sounds like...

Dave's house is a Spanish-style Mansion in one of the BEAUTIFUL conservative neighborhoods of Pasadena. Much of the architecture in Pasadena has spanish, georgian style mansions and craftsman homes. His home is worth Millions. I do believe the maintenance on his home is expensive. He just had the roof of spanish tile redone before the rain.....very expensive to do!
What I find interesting is that Dave could have sold out and left Pasadena, once he became a success and moved to Beverly Hills or Malibu (reputable for achieving the height of success is to move to these celebritard neighborhoods), but instead, he chose to invest in Pasadena, his home town. Unlike Ed and Al, who moved on to Hollywood Hills, etc. BassPlayer lives in the same valley as Roth's house - so he also stayed close to where he grew up.
Dave was real estate savvy to keep the mansion...perhaps it will become a museum someday. He did the "Shoop Bop" video here and many publicity photos, as you guys already know.
I once walked by and looked down at the street curb in front of his house and saw that the cement was engraved with "Dave" - That's our ROTH!!!
