The whole idea of the torch was for when David Lee Roth enters back into the Van Halen fold NOT if it was a complete original line-up!

Roth (even though I bought each and every release and saw him on every tour) as a solo artist couldn't match the legacy the he held with Van Halen. It was almost like "the man" was keeping his music down while ramming Van Hagar and Gay Halen down our throats. Now, perhaps David Lee Roth can obtain the closure that's needed OR Van Halen can take a newer direction and give us the fans more material to sink our teeth into.

If the torch ain't gonna be lit, then scrap the damn thing! Our main objective was to see Dave IN the band. Well, Mazel Tov! It happened.
But MA is too busy in tequilaland with his partner now. I'm counting down the days until I see the concert that we were denied of for many years. Now we are seeing Dave do what he does best in front of 15,000+ fans in a tour once since...who knows how long? That is a bittersweet victory for ALL us Dave fans. Prove those sheep wrong for saying that he couldn't do it. WELL HE FUCKING DID IT!!!
Does it burn me up inside knowing that I will see the concert and miss
seeing MA and his mighty Jack Daniels bass? Of course it does! That would have been the icing on the cake. But what can I say? We were short changed again.

When the torch was first put up, VH was doing nothing. The torch is intended to be lit for a reunion of the band (Ed, Mike and Al) with "Dave only" as the singer. In other words "Dave-only" means the torch would not be lit for a reunion with Sammy or Gary or any new singers.

This isn't a reunion. It's a new band.
