| I know that I speak for many fans when I say that I feel deprived. I know all great things must end, but the simple fact is that it never HAD to end in 1985. There is a chapter missing from the sage. Its the one where everyone makes up and we all ride happily into the sunset. Since April 1, 1985, the world has waited for this chance. Many people, especially the ones who run these websites, have spent many days of their lives trying to get the original four to come back. Don't you think the fans deserve this? Will younger people, like me, who were too young to experience the original Van halen, never get to see the greatest rock band in the history of the known universe? I'm not quite sure why Van Halen was better than everyone else, but the goosebumps I still get everytime I play "Aint Talkin' Bout Love" let me know that the Mighty Van Halen was once not just a piece of history, and that todays 30 year olds had actually saw this behemoth when they were my age. Why don't I get my chance? Why is this rift remaining, when rock SO SO badly needs Van Halen? The original four have to sit down and realize that it doesn't have to be this way. Van Halen has always been just like a big show. And we're going to re-shoot the last scene, and get it right this time. We all want to know, you four, "Are you for real? Its so hard to tell." I assure you I won't buy any future album unless it includes the original lineup (even if it's amazing -- I taped "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" from a friend so that you wouldn't make money from me). Nor will I see Van Halen on tour again without the original lineup (I stayed away on the III tour even though I wanted to hear Edward, Mike and Alex play the classic stuff). 3. For every fan posting here, there are a thousand others who feel the same. And you know it. 4. It's time. Please announce your reunion. |

| I followed the four
original members since the first album. Still have my 1984 ticket stub. I Remember
Dave doing an encore singing ice cream man head to toe in red feathers! This was
entertainment! I considered the band as a group of individuals that were strongest
when playing together. The mix of strong musicianship with humour was what I was,
and am still looking for. Quite possibly, Sammy was a better vocalist and greatly assisted in writing, but for me the "It doesn't matter if you win or loose, it's how good ya look playin’ it" ridiculous confidence was gone. Guys, do the reunion if it feels right and your hearts are in it. You’re all adults now and that should help you to realize that some of the friction in the band helped create some of the best music the rock world has yet to see. Music is about reaching many people and stirring emotions and giving people memories. I write and produce music and value the lessons I learned from endlessly spinning Van Halen records. You guys wouldn’t be trying it again or doing a Dinosaurs of rock gig, you’d just be picking up where you left off. Fan of the original band and all the members wherever they play! |
