I think Sammy might be an alright guy but I was never a Van Hagar fan. I liked Sammy better in Montrose & his early solo stuff. He should have stayed solo but you guys made a few good songs. Gary Cherone is technically a good singer but he just wasn't right. The songs had no soul. Gary should do is own thing. If you guys get back together, I think that would be great. However, I don't think you owe the fans a damn thing. You've already done plenty. Do! whatever makes you feel good & right. Don't do it for the fans or money because that's phoney & will suck. Do it only for yourself & for the music & to kick as much ass as possible. All I'm saying is, I for one, would enjoy seeing the original four on stage again but only for the right reasons. I respect you all & I thank you for all the great music you guys have made over the years. I totally understand how hard being in a band is. I've had friends who saw them, and from the videos and recordings I've seen of the 77-84 timeframe, they seem to have put on a hell of a show! They also made some great music, had lot's of balls, seemed to have fun, energy, etc. Now I am older, and I know it wouldn't be the same, but I've got a few hard-earned bucks that I would gladly plunk down to get a chance and see you guys do it together just one more time (before retiring)! I recently saw some even older guys (KISS) and a couple years ago I saw the Rolling Stones in Chicago. Both bands put on a heck of a show, and I am sure they made enough money from the tour to hang it up afterwards, if they wanted to. Their familes are taken care of too. Come on guys, enough with the bullshit secrecy and rumors, the fans are overwhelmingly behind this, Warner Brothers seems committed to this, even general schmucks! have expressed interest in a real Dave/Van Halen renunion. I saw Dave three times from last August to this January. He still puts on a heck of a show! No, it's not the same, but it is still really, really good, I didn't hear anbody say they were dissapointed. On the contrary, I heard comments like "Wow! Wow!" and "Best show I've ever seen". Give Dave a break, do whatever it takes to make this happen, and give it a try. If you do anything else, you will look like sad pathetic fools (remember that whole Gary experiment, puhhh-leeezz! ) Make the announcement soon, like yesterday, so the fans can have realistic expectations, and to minimize dissapointment.
