U.S. Death Toll In Iraq Exceeds 1,000

For Democrats and other left wing radicals, any bad news, defeats, and deaths from Iraq are welcomed as good news. Any positive news (which greatly outweighs the bad in reality) is ignored.

These "Americans", who desire a U.S. defeat in Iraq, welcome the latest bad news of the U.S. death toll in Iraq exceeding 1,000.

This is particularly good news, in their minds, since the arbitrary number has come before the November 2 election.

    However, this victory for the Left may ring a bit hollow. Statistics show the following regarding U.S. Armed Forces deaths in Iraq;

Total U.S. killed in action in Iraq = 753*

*Breakdown of U.S. killed in action
U.S. Killed in action from hostile fire in battle = 521
    U.S. Killed from roadside bombs = 202
U.S. Killed from “hostile vehicle accidents” = 23
    U.S. Killed from friendly fire = 7

    Non combat deaths in Iraq (most) include the following;
    vehicle accidents 90, non-hostile helicopter crashes 22, non-hostile accidental weapon discharges 14, non-hostile accidental drownings 15, ordnance accidents 15, non-hostile unspecified causes 10, various illness 21, electrocution 6, heart attack 8, unspecified injury 3, not reported 3, weapon malfunction 3, accidental fall 3, accidents 5, homicide 2, fire 1.

Since active duty troops, during peacetime and routine training suffer identical non-combat related deaths as those seen above, the Democratic celebration may be a bit premature. Democrats can only hope and pray for a large battle to ensue between now and November 2 so that U.S. killed in action does reach their goal of 1,000.

    Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, which most Democrats give lukewarm support, there has been little mention of casualties.

U.S. killed in action in Afghanistan = 42

Breakdown of U.S. KIAs in Afghanistan
Killed in action from hostile fire in battle = 33
Killed in action friendly fire = 1
Killed in action from IEDs = 8

Non Combat Deaths in Afghanistan = 36
(Includes deaths from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait)

Deaths (unspecified cause) in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Northern Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf and the Northern Arabian Peninsula = 45

Accidental plane crashes in the Philippines = 8

It's funny how the number suddenly jumped to the 1000 mark. This way the press was caught off guard and couldn't build up over a period of days until the 1000 mark was passed. Another slick move by the Republicans. It will all come back to haunt them in November.

You can't be serious. The press (and the Democrats, well, the same thing) have been talking about 1,000 deaths in Iraq for at least a month now.

        killed "in action."

non-combat deaths are still deaths. and the fact is that over 1000 U.S. soldiers have died in iraq.

how, and why one chooses to use this fact is certainly up for debate.

(and no, the # didn't just jump to 1000. the press didn't keep a running tally through the 800s. it did report 2 deaths here and 4 deaths there, but didn't total them up until it started approaching the mid to high 900s. that's because we all think round numbers are significant. 1000 is a lot more significant thatn 950, but 1050 isn't really that much more significant than 1000.)

John Kerry will use this 1000 soldier killed in Iraq to his advantage against George W. Bush in typical Democrat style as will other anti-war far left Democrats but it will backfire on them in November because whining about it isn't a solution which is why the war on terror is a good thing to protect freedom.

Until a few days ago the death toll being reported by almost every news organization I've seen was I beleive in the mid 800's. Granted the press has been talking about the 1000 mark but not as much as the would have when the number being reported was 950+.

Give me a break you don't find it odd that in one day the number jumps 100+. Take your head out of your arse. This administration will do what ever it takes to deflect criticism from itself.

What exactly is your point? What do these articles have to do with the deceptive ways of the Bush administration when it comes to the death toll in IRAQ going over 1000? The number being reported was below 900 until yesterday, then all of a sudden it shoots up.

You guys will defend anything, it's truely pathetic. I almost want to see Bush win and continue his spending spree so he can drive the country into a depression. Then of course it will be Bill Clinton's fault.

Bush can't run on his record so all he can do is attack Kerry, telling the American people that the world is going to sink into the Abyss if Kerry is elected. This administration is an embarrassment to our country.

Has Cheney tied in the killings in Russia to 9/11 yet? It's only a matter of time I guess if he already hasn't.

My point is that the press has been saying since MAY that U.S. deaths in Iraq are almost 1,000 and they HAVE been saying it quite a bit in the last few weeks.

As far as Bush being deceptive about it - where do you think the press gets the casualty figures - from the Bush administration. See below

                      DOD Casualties Press Releases

                      CENTCOM Casualties Press Releases

                      Multi National Corps Iraq

So to reiterate. The press has been talking about "1,000 deaths" in Iraq for a long time, and particulary so in the last few weeks. And, the source of their information is the Bush Administration.

NO SOURCE claimed the number was "900 yesterday". Cite it if you think it's the case.

IMO, most democrats have and understand compassion. Celebrate death? No, IMO, they are mourning the death of US soldiers, right along with the deaths of Iraqi citizens.
