    Tampa article

Picked up a copy of Tampa’s Entertainment Extra at the Laundromat last night. Bored with a 24 ounce Bud and the washer is on the fritz. It talks about the Van Hagar show coming tonight. Only one sentence on the ass clown but….

“Van Halen took electric guitar technique to new height with his patented two-handed tapping and pull off effects, while David Lee Roth’s tongue-in-cheek histrionics proved to be a refreshing alternative in an industry chock full of self-important rock stars.”

I hadn’t really looked at the late 70’s like that. Bowie, The Stones, The Who, The Doobies, and Queen seemed a little stuck on themselves.

Roth was just a natural and was ready to set the world “On Fire” back then. He really influenced the countless rock bands that came through in the 80’s, but none of them came close.

Here's a link to the Tampa Trib: http://ae.tbo.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...l&musicID=7054

    Another embarrassing ass clown article.

Puts this Van Hagar bullshit in perspective. They can’t re-create a vibe and band persona without Roth. Period.

You know...the VanHalens would have spared themselves all this comparison if they had only changed the name. VanHalen would have been up there with Led Zeppelin. Now they're there with the ranks of Credence Clear Water Revival and what's left of the Beach Boys.

Nope... I doubt even a name change would have spared the comparisons from Dave to Sam. It would be one less point to run in the ground but nothing else would have changed at all...
