    the las vegas period

OK i know they're some big fans from around Nevada....I just missed DLR one year when I went down to LV with my wife....just a couple of questions

    1. Did you see him on the Strip?

    2. Was his show canceled?

    3. What was the show like

Didn't see him but he writes about that in his book. Dave says the thing was never properly advertized/marketed. He did assemble a kick ass band of classic rock/blues musicians. That was the style of music he was playing. David Lee Roth and The Mambo Slammers I believe is what he called the whole thing. (If you don't have his book, pick the damn thing up!)

Dave had a contract with the MGM Grand and a few other big casinos. Casinos now are owned by corporations and the contract is like 30 pages long. I'm not kidding. When the mob ran the casinos, the contract was a hand shake many times and all they cared about was you brought people into the joint. This is why Vegas was raw and cutting edge. There was no censorship or policies to follow.

When Roth was playing Vegas he was under contract and under the watchful eye of corporate beurocrats. Dave being the loose cannon he is probably broke many rules. You have to remember the money machine is so huge, Dave was practactly invisible and expendable. I'm sure Dave filled the room but I think he just didn't play politics with the pig vomit characters running the place.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!
