      No singers at all.

Eddie's first true-blue solo album should be entirely instrumental. Just a rip-roaring shredfest of guitar. Obviously AVH would provide the percussion, and Ed can do the bass/synth/piano/tuba (hee hee), and stun us all with some Grade A new guitar work (presuming he's capable of it).

Doing anything with a singer is gonna invite comparsions with classic VH, and any guest singer will undoubtedly throw in a bunch of half-assed Rothisms performance-wise, so why bother?

Van Halen 3 was essentially an Eddie Van Halen solo album with a guest vocalist anyway.

but as a first eddie van halen solo album, van halen 3 was not so bad.i know i'm the only one to think that here, but i don't care. it was different, exploring new things, but half of the album was wrong.there were interesting things inside too.

Personally, the only way NOT to have the Roth comparison would be to pick women vocalists, Sass Jordan, Annie Wilson, Amy Lee, Alanis Morrisette, hell, even Anastasia has a wicked set of pipes for rock music. Could be different!!
