I picked the CD up the other day at Tower Records for $9.99. The thing's hilarious, Shatner takes himself so damn seriously. The tune he does with Henry Rollins, I Can't Get Behind That, is funny as shit. That tune, Has Been and Common People are the best cuts on the thing IMO. Definitely worth picking up if you have a sense of Humor. And the Ben Folds Five Band is a pretty good as backup.

Yeah, I heard him doing "Mr. Tamborine Man" back in 70s at some point...I think my buddy had a cassette or something, been years ago that I heard it...man, William Shatner...often imitated, but never duplicated!

I did hear him "sing" something years ago.
Fookin hilarious. Im laughing just thinking about this.
you can just picture these trekkies out there that
get right into this shit. Its almost as funny as the
way hagar fans get into Van Hagar.

William Shatner: Man of many talents

William Shatner is truly a man of many talents. Besides his thespian pursuits including his lastest lawyer show (Boston Legal?) he has written novels (The Tek series I believe) and directed. But if anyone listens to Howard Stern, we know the real singing talent from old school Star Trek is George Takai (aka Sulu). Yes, he also released an album. The lyrics to the title track are easy to remember. They go "SULUUUU....SULUUUU, SULUUUU, SULUUUUUU...." George Takai is very proud of his short singing career...Oh Myyyyyy. The song played on Stern is hysterical for that very reason.

I listened to the clips on his web site, and it wasn't half bad.

According to Takai, Shatner didn't even write those novels.

Takai may be right, but he is also one bitter Oriental.

I love that duet he sings with his toupee.
