Well there seems to be rumors of the three original members making another album with spammy gaygar. This is a horrific rumor and i hope its not true.

You know what, if they dont reunite with Dave, this is the next
best thing. Finally we can see Album sales, without any Dave
involvement. Bring it on !!! I cant wait to fight the spamsters
when it sells even less than BOBW !!!! bwahahahahhahahaha

Sorry guys argue with me if you want to but a van halen album with sammy is still better than a lot of the bull crap thats out these days. I doubt it will sell much but then again sammy solo and dave solo have not produced big numbers either

You know one thing i read here before is that dlr era outsold hagar. The thing is when vh came out in 1978 and 5150 out in 1986 thats eight more years of record sales etc . Same goes for lets say 1984 vs f u c k (1991) thats 7 years. Those things have to be considerd as well. One thing i know for sure is that there is not one roth era tune that i skip over on any cd but i will skip thru the odd hagar one. dlr was just extra cool and untouchable.

No it's really not. I won't be listening to either Van Hagar or any other new album.

I agree w/ Lou. This would suck. If you like Air Supply with a rock beat, then go ahead and throw your money at this crap.
It's Roth or nothing. We are the Roth Army and we know its the truth. The truth shall set you free. Accept nothing less, unless of course you like the sound of shit. There's a hundred better bands out there than anything Van Hagar will ever be able to muster. Sorry them's the facts.

Sammy Hagar has said over and over that he wants no part of making a new CD. He said if he did anything it ouwld be to make 1-3 new song(s) and release it for free and then tour...Pretty much like what just happened with this last tour.

I really don't think we will ever see a completely new full Van Halen CD.

Hey that's a relief, but can we really believe anything Sammy says?
After all, he keeps saying everything is going OK.

HARD ROCK-----All you need to look at is that 1984 sold over 5 million copies in its first year and a half of release and 5150 only sold 3 million. Now 1984 has sold 10 million and 5150 6million. Also several reports on Melodicrock.com have shown that since soundscan was institued in 1991 VH's debut album and 1984 are STILL their biggest selling albums every year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Actually, I don't think it makes that much of a difference, when you get right down to it. F.U.C.K., for example, has been available in music stores now for 13 years. 13 years up til that point, Van Halen I had been available in stores. Now that F.U.C.K. has been available for 13 years, Van Halen I's catalog had, after 13 years of availability, still sold three times as much THEN (in 1991) as F.U.C.K. has currently (2004), even though F.U.C.K.s had the same window of opportunity that I gave Van Halen I.

Unless I'm reading things wrong, so somebody correct me here if I've got my facts backwards...the industry magazines don't always mean a lot to me, sometimes it all comes across as Greek...

Hey there i like van halen period. im one of those guys who if he hears a hagar fan dissing roth gets pissed of cause roth is the man but i get a little anoyed when people dis hagar as well. Hagar aint no Roth but as i said before they did put out some decent tunes here and there. i would rather listen to lets say human beings or good enough over a lot of the crap that the music industry is mass producing. These joke of a bands that pollute our airwaves. Long live van halen!!!! long live king edward!!!!

I guess the stats make sense when you put them that way. I was looking at it in a different way ie 1978 vs 1986 8 more years, but if you look at it in the sense 8 years from release date then yeah that makes sense. Roth is Roth and Hagar is Hagar that can be changed . Its like saying hetfield is hetfield and mustaine is mustaine both have their talents and both have their own identity

Exactly what I'm getting at...when you're looking at the numbers, the years have to be subjected to the "then" vs. "now" and let's seperate the time mentality...

Roth on!

Lots of interesting points form everyone. I read that Spammy said he would not do a record, but as we all know he kisses lots of ass around the van halen household. Years ago he said he would never get back with them, and now look at him, hes in, which is very unfortunate. Now about album sales, no matter how you do the math Classic no matter what has made more than gaygar era. Even if you do the math and subtract the years or what ever i bet Roth era would win. Now why would roth era win? Its a simple answer. They were a rock band. They were a true rock band with their own sound and that attracted millions. But gaygar is just ballads and all love crap which is all were hearin these days on airwaves. But classic was all about havein fun and gettin girls and thats why spammy will always be known as the guy who never matched up to roth

The only reason why i would buy a new album, if one was to be released, is to check out the guitar work. I mean if you heard the gary cherone album you would just be very dissapointed, there was absolutely nothing good. No good solos or anythin. it was so bad that you would wrather listen to 2 hours of the new tunes instead of one hour of that album. But if an album is released it will prove one valuable thing, that they need roth if they want to sell records, and this iwll show that withouth roth, they are nothing

We have to safely assume after years in the wildernes,
those 3 new tracks with hagar would have been the best
three that the sisters were sitting on...

New album ?? Does anyone really think so after hearing
these new tracks ??

New album... Yeah, with DAVE!

If you look at what has been happening in the music business over the period of time that Dave has been absent from the band... yeah, its crap. A market in which I am not even sure that I would want Dave and the boys trying to compete in because not only did Van Hagar's music change, as did Dave's solo stuff, but it changed because the listening audience, not the diehard Roth fans, but the general listening, and buying, audience changed.

The trend is getting back to the harder stuff. An area where our boys could excell, if they so desire, and if that desire is strong enough to work out their differences.

Well, the thing of it is, Van Halen needs a RECORD DEAL first. Regardless of who's at the helm.

If David was at the front, Warner Bros. would have NO problems releasing anything with them, from a shopping list up to a new album. That much is clear.

With Hagar at the front, Warner Bros. won't touch them. That much is clear, too, considering that Van Halen had to fight to keep BOBW off of the Rhino sublabel.

I remember hearing that they approached Sony music (Columbia, Epic, et al) a while back and Sony didn't want them either.

Guess what, kids?

Van Halen is now "classic rock", meaning that the best home they're likely to find will be with Sanctuary or Spitfire or one of the other related minor league labels...the retirement homes where bands go to die...

Personally, when Van Halen takes a long hard look at the reality of playing for minor labels that can't or won't finance a huge world tour, when Van Halen's looking at the reality of playing 12 or 13 songs after three bands hit the stage before them in package tours, I think that's going to change their minds about the future really quick-like.

There's not enough interest in this line-up to justify going on. They're flogging a dead horse. Remember how badly the Van Hagar era ended? And I'm not talking about the break-up. With the exception of a couple of highlights, FUCK, LRHRN and Balance were uninspired, formulaic bland rock at its worst. They'd run out of ideas. NO CHEMISTRY!!!

And as Panamark said, surely the three new songs on BOBW were the best they had, and if so SPARE US ANYMORE.
