Just too bad that Dennis and Carl aren't around, and that Mike Love is a fucking lunatic...otherwise, they could have recorded this together and made probably the biggest comeback in history.

SYNOPSIS:
Feature-length documentary chronicling the most famous unreleased album in music history, "Smile," the legendary work of Beach Boys co-founder and composer, arranger and producer Brian Wilson, who is shown bringing the long-lost masterpiece to fruition decades after he halted its recording sessions.
"Smile" is, without a doubt, the most talked-about unreleased album ever. Glad to actually have some sort of official track listing to put on it, rather than bootleggers second best guesses...
I had my own tracklist for my own "version" of it. It's amazing that Brian pulled it off and made an album that sounded very close to the original...both in the original album's spirit and the recording sound. It's simply breathtaking and possibly the best album I've ever heard. Well, it's definitely up there along with 1984 and a small handful of other albums.

Brian used most of the original mastertapes from The "Smile" recording sessions. He has re-recorded the vocals for it and slightly rearranged some of the songs from "Smile" slightly.

SMiLE 2004 was completely re-recorded. None of the 1966-67 tapes were used. Brian was backed by the Wondermints and several other players.
A definate 5-star album, and one of the ten greatest albums ever in my opinion.
I have got the original "Smile" demos(On CD) and I am 100% sure that most of the mastertapes were used(of course cleaned up big time). It sounds "EXACTLY" like the "Smile" 2, 3 and 4 track tapes.
The vocals were redone though.........
I am pissed off with the "new" version of "Good Vibrations", Brian should redone it like he did on the demo version of "Good Vibrations", that was released on the "Smiley Smile/Wild Honey" two fer.
