I saw Richie Kotzen and his band last week in a tiny venue near me.
I hadn't heard anything of his since Electric Joy in 1992.
Simply stunning. He played through a really simple set up, his Fender signature model Telecaster, with a hot rails pickup in the bridge and a drop d lever on the head stock plugged straight into a Cornford stack.
Amazing sound. No high gain nonsense here just a fantastic warm bluesy, rock sound which veered towards country at times.
The band played some really lovely songs and Richie sang better than any guitar hero I've ever heard sing. Pat Torpey of Mr Big fame was on drums.
How Richie isn't selling millions of records I do not know.
