You know...it's interesting...Nomar was a Jeter/Arod peer...now he signs a bit contract...but a 1 year deal shooting for that big...last deal next year...

The Cubs may get a big season from Nomah...we shall see...

Does this surprise anyone other than me...that he signed for ONLY 8 million...lmfao...

I know he's injury prone...but he's not that far removed from being an incredible ballplayer...

I find it to be quite the surprise.

Wonder if they want to move Sosa first, to make room for a deal if he has a big year.

Interesting move.

According to the chicago tribune, they call Sammy a immovable object..
I think they may go extreme & cut him like the redsox did Manny
Ramirez as a last ditch effort to lose him, which they really do.
We'll see if anyone picks him up in the coming weeks, that move
may happen.

The Red Sox cut Manny?

Why in the fuck would the Red Sox cut Manny?

Sosa is shit...I wouldn't want him on my team unless he came for free...

Last year when no one picked him up you dont remember?

Oh...you mean the waiver wire in August?

Nobody would pick up that contract...

As far as Sammy goes...same thing applies...

if anyone deals for him...they would want the Cubs to foot some of the bill...

Hell...Randy and a few others were on that list as well...

came back, todd was going off before marks return dammit.
Im thankful Todd will get his real job now.

Nomar at 8 million is a steal if he can put up the production of a few years ago, or even close.

It's the Cubs.

Nomar will break his cock off in Mia.

Wood will crash in a firey plane wreck.

And Sosa will get AIDs in Boystown.

All after making it to the World Series.

I think since Nomar was banged up last year, he'd figure he'd get a full year healthy and set himself for a better payday....

Listen to me, like 8 million a year is a bad payday.... ;)

This isn't surprising, how could any team commit a long-term deal to an injury prone player on the wrong side of 30?

I agree, he is NOT a team player and NOT a winner.

I think I'm gonna cry not if, but WHEN he passes Willie Mays. He only needs 87 homers to pass him, so 29 a year for 3 years will do it. When Sammy Sosa passes Willie Mays, that'll show what a joke this era of baseball is.

Mark my words...this is the End of Nomar Garciaparra. Whenever Nomar has put extra pressure on himself to produce (see when he came back from the wrist injury, and the 2003 playoffs...) he has TANKED! So now, instead of making 15 million dollars for four years with the SOX (that offer was BACK on the table as late as Spring Training 04...after the A-Rod fiasco) he signs for EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS for ONE YEAR! LMMFAOROTFLMMFAO! He has to produce this year for a final payday...I dont think that he has it in him...

I disagree bro....

While I still think that his health will be the key factor, I think he's still one helluva hitter, and now with the trade pretty much blown over now, he can still have a really good year and then get paid....

No kidding. We just traded our closer and the heir to his throne.

Maybe we can lure Dan Pleasac out of retirement. Or Jesse Orasco.

The Brewers are looking decent....

Losing Posednik obviously hurts because of his speed, but the dude blew dog last year hitting the ball....

With Lee, Jenkins, and Overbay, that's a decent foundation....

Until their contracts expire and they all leave, of course....

Those guys just have to hold over until Fielder, Weeks and Gwynn Jr. are ready. Most, if not all, will have a taste in the bigs this year. Fielder is going to be a monster.
