I wasn't offended. I just sisn't find it funny. I don't think the way the rest of you do because I accept the history of this band and enjoy all the music it has put out. Dave left, VH went on... Hit and miss since... It's not like there was anything else Ed could have done when Dave left. I think it was a better decision to rebuild the band with a different sound than to go out looking for a Dave clone. How sagging would that have been?

Ed could have done a lot of things differently. For starters, he couldve picked a MUCH better singer(though I know it would be impossiblt to replace Dave no matter what), and kept VH a hard rock band.

Well, under the circumstances, I give Ed props for mixing it up after the split with Dave. Would it have mattered if he picked a different singer? It STILL would NOT be Dave. There is no satisfying everyone in this situation but I do think the majority was satisfied with Sammy.
Nothing or no one could replace Dave in VH but Ed and the guys had a right to a band and continued success after Dave...

Then they should have changed the name of the band IMO. What they did after Dave did nothing but tarnish the legacy of a once legendary band. I've even read that Spam's former manager, the late Ed Leffler wanted to completely distance Van Halen from their past once both he and the round rocker came aboard. Hence, none or little props to Classic VH or it's sound. Regardless, Hagar sucks and always will.
