bullshit! i saw the sam & dave tour too, and dave rocked the arena. i was hoping that dave would have opened so that i wouldn't have see sammy, but dave closed the show and we had to see sammy. needless to say, i took a nice long stroll to the rest room that included a stop at the beer stand BOTH going to AND coming from! i tried to avoid as much of sam's set as i could, but eventually i got tired of checking out the t-shirt stand and there's only so many times you can hit up the rest room. so i did check out the later part of his performance, and it in no way came close to dave's. dave was ever the showman, doing his usual kicks and spins and making flirtatious gestures and shit to all the good looking girls in the audience. all sam did was waddle around the stage and did stupid shit like wearing boxer shorts on his head and making wise cracks about eddie...ooops, i'm sorry, EDWARD. at this show, sam seemed to me, as he ALWAYS has, to be more concerned about the music itself, which i will say that he does give 100% when singing and playing. but hey, let's face it, this is a SHOW. it's NOT ALL about the music. sam, i think, needs to learn this. if it were ALL 100% about just sound and NOT any sight, then i would just sit at home and listen to the CD with my eyes closed. a PERFORMANCE is also about sight as well as sound. dave puts on a show. sam sings. therein lies the difference.

Funny thing, I recently listened to the two new songs on the best of volume one of van halen. Diamond Dave is actually sounding better these days than he did earlier in his career. Like he has stated before, hes found a new high pitch that he can reach when he sings. He also sings at a higher level for the majority of the songs. If his voice was getting bad, its doubtful that he would be singing high instead of low.

I have seen DLR many a times and he puts on a great show and sounds great every time I have seen him . He could fit in with the VH boys in a heartbeat . I would really like to see this but we probably will never see a reunion thanks to Ed's ego. I saw vh with sam this year and couldnt believe how disappointed I was in the show. The tempo in the music seem to be a little slow especially with the DLR era songs they played. I can tell you that DLR has NEVER disappointed me at one of his shows that I have seen over the years , especially these last few years that he has been touring. Any original VH fans that havent seen DLR Live would not leave second guessing themselves about going to see him . Later on.
