Lieberman: No Confidence in Kofi

Influential Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman said Monday that the United Nations faces a crisis of confidence because of the failed leadership of Secretary General Kofi Annan - and suggested that the top diplomat should consider resigning.

"A lot of bad things have happened at the United Nations under his leadership," Lieberman told ABC Radio Network host Sean Hannity. "[Annan has] got to decide whether he's lost his credibility and is hurting the United Nations."

Connecticut Democrat explained that Annan "seems like a nice man from a distance," but he contended that "the U.N. needs really strong leadership at this point or the world public and certainly the American public will lose confidence." The former vice presidential candidate said the U.N. "desperately needs reorganization and reform because the voices of anti-Americanism are just so prevalent there it makes it unreal."

Lieberman is the first prominent Democrat to suggest that it may be time for Annan step aside.

Voices of reason piping in. What's that Sneator..."Anti-Americanism"? 35-40% of all aid relief comes from the US yet we take it up the ass as a nation at the UN! Can we finally admit that it's as bad as The League of Nations?
